I didn't realise there were that many NXT trainees who had shagged Will Ospreay.

WWE always celebrate Martin Luther King day and for a long while have celebrated Black History month. Something I would always give them credit for. How to make that feel horrifically exploitative and tacky.

Wasn't Martin Luther King one of the people Vince most respected? I've heard it multiple times from wrestlers etc but never understood what Vince actually took away from him, he certainly didn't get the messages MLK was trying to get across.

Apparently so, yes.

D-Von Dudley recently told a story about how a white talent on the roster (I think circa early-to-mid 2000s) made a comment like 'Why do we have to celebrate him for? He never did nothing for me!' when they were showing an MLK tribute video in the arena before a Raw taping. Booker T heard it, brought it up during a roster meeting and Vince fired the person who made the comment soon after.

Someone who used to work for WWE said Vince used to refer to an "MLK promo"; meaning a particular kind of delivery. It's not impossible that Vince respected him as a speaker rather than what he actually stood for, but also, there's a ton of right-wing Americans who parrot MLK's words without ever understanding what they meant.

Given that he’s there as she says that, it’s entirely appropriate for a journalist at the next WWE press conference to ask Triple H how he squares that with WWE’s tendency to mark not only MLK Day, but Black History Month. They did that last year (link to NXT Instagram). Not only that, but he should be asked if, on reflection, they were wrong to celebrate that; and if the answer is no, why aren’t they marking it this year? He should be asked if he thinks it’s important to mark Black History, and how Black wrestlers feel about their change in approach. He should be asked if he feels diversity is important in WWE, and pressured on that point. He should be asked if he agrees with what Linda McMahon said and is doing, and really pushed on that until he gives an answer. 

That won’t happen though, as the majority of journalists who attend these pressers are gutless cowards who toe the line to ensure they retain access.
