Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted April 22, 2023 Paid Members Share Posted April 22, 2023 Tremendous comedian. One of the very very very few comics that could be so funny that it went beyond laughter to a point that I would have to bite my hand to stop from laughing because I knew if I laughed that all control would be gone and the torrent of laughter would be so uncontrollable that I would wet myself.
Keith Houchen
You never lose it. I still love this masterclass.
Paid Members gmoney Posted April 22, 2023 Paid Members Share Posted April 22, 2023 I think it was the One Show with Dame Edna actually, not This Morning. I believe i may have been conflating that incredible clip. Just read he'd being doing Dame Edna since 1955!
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted April 22, 2023 Paid Members Share Posted April 22, 2023 My mum just told me. My gran used to love Dame Edna, and had one of her books that I remember reading when I was far too young to understand any of the jokes in it. Wasn't there an "Audience With" where he did some stuff as himself, and a segment or two as Dame Edna and Sir Les Patterson.
Keith Houchen
This is one of those deaths that lead to social media being a celebration of their work. Loving the clips being shared.
DavidB6937
Probably one of those talents that you took for granted. He was just on the top of his game constantly for such a long time.

LCJ
Saw Barry Humphries in Manchester in ‘95. The best live comedy act I’ve seen. By a long way. RIP.
Paid Members Gus Mears Posted April 22, 2023 Author Paid Members Share Posted April 22, 2023 As Keith said, testament to his brilliance that loads of outstanding things I'd never even heard of keep cropping up. One of the funniest people ever.
Paid Members Thunderplex Posted April 22, 2023 Paid Members Share Posted April 22, 2023 Weather as Dame Edna, Les Patterson or himself, just effortlessly funny. Â The Dermot clip is a prime example.
