Until Cameroon smash them tonight with an Nkoudou hat trick. Piece of piss.

Devastated that Clinton NJie didn’t get the call.

Completely forgot about him. I remember him looking permanently startled when he was playing for Spurs. When he did play that is.

We need to make sure we keep our emotions in check. When the draw was made the hope was we win to qualify for the last 16 and with that eliminate Uruguay from the competition. It's all there for us now by winning to complete both parts. Discipline is key as is  Suarez is starting for them and I would expect him to do do whatever he can and use every trick he has to help Uruguay win and give them a chance to qualify in second place.

Two African teams already qualified for yhe final 16, now time to make it three. 2-1, Kudas and Williams.

My boys!!! ??????

What a comeback. Heroes, each and every one of them.

Legends. Aboubakar, the greatest of them all.

The other game was absolutely fantastic as well. Another great day of sportswashing.

How the fuck can a 19yo be this good? He's going to captain England as soon as Kane retires and probably break Shilton's appearance record.  What a talent. I hope he stays in Germany forever though.

I hate to say it but England have a serious chance of winning it all.

Which gives me approx 2 weeks to find an island in the Pacific without any access to the internet, television nor English newspapers…

I'm not entirely sure England beat France, though. It's eerie just how effortlessly good Mbappe looked today.

So, France.

Defence looks OK but a little on the thrown-together side. England benefit from having a defence that know each other extremely well from the past 6 years.

Midfield looks good all things considering, Rabiot has surprisingly been alright but I still favour Bellingham, Rice and whoever plays alongside them.

Attack is scary. Griezmann, Dembele and Giroud are linking up wonderfully together. However, England's front line are ticking nicely too and their depth in the three positions behind/either side of Kane are surely the envy of everyone, save perhaps for Brazil.

But...they have Mbappe. And that's just enough for them to have the edge over England. This looks like it's his tournament.

Then there's the very real prospect of Brazil after that. Whoever wins is likely coming from this side of the draw, although that Argentina-Netherlands game could be a cracker.

Correct. Brazil.

If England have to win a World Cup, at least if its this weird non-canon Qatar shitshow one it'll have a load of asterix and caveats beside it. As an Irish man living I'm England that would be some scant consolation at least.

Also, the gammons having to climb down over "woke" Southgate would be hilarious.

Still hoping for France/Portugal/Argentina/Spain/Japan/anyone else winning the whole thing though.
