England will win the World Cup and then you can all quote SpiritoftheForest's moronic posts back at him but in the meantime remember Scotland had Lyndon Dykes as their main striker and that it's Scotland.

I... look. I didn't want England to win and I'm not upset they lost but I'm gutted for Saka and Rashford and Sancho because we all fucking know what will happen next. It gets on my tits that this nationalistic bullshit is making certain twats forget that. We know what the fallout of this will be and even match winner Donnarumma could see what the effect would be on Saka.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sterling didn't want to take a penalty because of the inevitable fallout had he have missed one too.

Anyone criticising him for not taking one wants their head examined anyway. They wouldn't have got this far without his goals.

My overriding feeling at the end was one of sympathy too (with some relief tbh). Maybe I'm being naive but I don't really think they will be slaughtered like Beckham was in 1998 etc.

Young black men, in this climate. Please don’t look at Twitter it’s even more of a cesspit then usual tonight.

Apparently Southgate chose the takers based on training sessions he just said during an interview.

I was already dreading it when Rashford missed - you just knew what was waiting in the gutter, salivating at the prospect of tearing apart the young black man who stuck his head above the parapet and took it to that straw-haired shit. But for three young black men to miss, I just knew what was going to happen.

What do I win?

I've just won £40 for having the same opinion 😊

Over the moon for Italy winning but I do feel for the England players. I really didn't want Rashford to miss his penalty but it is what it is. I hope the press don't maul the players but not much chance of that.  Anyway, Forza Azzuri!

In any event, this England squad has bought hope and optimism to a whole new generation of children and young people, as well as connecting lots of different groups of people during the tournament.

The manager and the players are an absolute credit to themselves. There will always be absolute arseholes who support your national team and club. That unfortunately will never change.

But this squad and championship was special. That has to count for something, and I think they will build on this. The World Cup shouldn't be any harder if they can use this experience and come back stronger.

Devastated. Won't be crying myself to sleep like 1990 but still pretty heartbroken.

Really proud of the manager and players. Think they've done brilliantly.

Wish we could take a pen though. 7 tournament exits on pens in 31 years. It's a mentality shift we still haven't got.
