Right? They all have different reasons for being there, too. Eddie had just done rehab and was training for his return (which didn't happen due to him getting a DUI and getting fired). Haku and D'Lo didn't have a spot on the roster so were just keeping sharp. Cade was a hot developmental prospect. Kwee Wee was one of the WCW contracts they acquired but they didn't have anything for him. And big Brian Adams was there because he was basically forced to after KroniK had that shitter with 'Taker and Kane a month earlier.
Snitsky's back acne
Psycho Clown and Brandon Kirk wrestle in a thunderstorm with the most torrential rain you have ever seen in your entire life. Bonkers.
Vamp
That's my new favourite match of the year. Can't believe they even attempted wrestling moves in that.

Winston
Enjoyed this with Murphy who will no doubt go on to great things. Around the 20m -30m mark explaining how shambolic current WWE is. No direction, no clue.
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted August 4, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted August 4, 2021 Bret Hart and Steve Austin head to head before their match at Survivor Series 96. This was years after I knew what wrestling was and I still fully bought into these two detesting each other throughout their feud. Just could never picture them being even slightly civil to each other. To the point it even felt a tad weird to me when Austin inducted Bret into the HOF years later. Their run together only lasted about 6 months yet it’s still so memorable. And it’s not just because of the WrestleMania 13 bloodbath. From start to finish one of the better rivalries I’ve ever seen. Especially with it all intermingling with the Bret vs Shawn stuff, Austin vs Pillman, Austin vs Owen, USA vs Canada etc. It’s retold now like Austin won KOTR and instantly skyrocketed but he was still piss arsing about with the likes of last legs Yokozuna, Marc Mero and Savio Vega from July to November when Bret finally returned. That’s when Austin really took off. Never beat Bret once but still came out of it made and having real main event legitimacy. He’d have got there eventually anyway but Bret was the perfect nemesis for him in late 96. They played off each other brilliantly and the chemistry in the ring was always top notch. That feud made early 1997 what it was, and I love how far the rivalry went in different directions.
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted August 5, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted August 5, 2021 Yeah I suppose. I never remember that finish. I guess he got the ‘win’ in their street fight on Raw in April as well, which was designed so Bret could take time off for knee surgery. But he never ever pinned Bret. In most cases if you had a series like that where you had an established name against a rising star and the rising star never gets one proper win, it isn’t that effective. But even in defeat Austin came out of those matches looking like a much bigger deal than he did going in. That street fight was great fun as well actually;

Paid Members unfitfinlay Posted August 5, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted August 5, 2021 I loved how real the story felt. It was a totally one sided feud at first. Bret picked Austin, basically as a warm up match, before he went after the proper stars but Austin just refused to let things go no matter how many times he lost. It really felt like he was supposed to go back to the Midcard and just went “fuck that”. It’s surprising that no promotion has tried to do anything similar. It didn’t hurt Bret at all but helped elevate Austin into the biggest star in the business.
