Very distracted by some of the casting in the first episode and if there's not a good reason for this by the end I'll be fuming. In other news, just look at Spitting Image:-  Haha I think I know exactly what you’re referring to, I’m guessing the hair and make up were struggling around COVID restrictions or something. Perry
I like Daisy but I'm starting to find it irritating when she starts laughing at everything on Buzzcocks. Her laughter just seems forced.
Mr_Danger
Squid Game is some great Netflix. Probably two episodes too long and it won’t disappoint lovers of long convoluted twisty endings but the tension and drama really hits. The production values are top notch too, it’s a very stylish looking show. Absolutely no need for this to be remade seeing as it’s one of Netflix’s biggest shows but I await the inevitable announcement of an American version being in the works. Your main man in this was excellent too, really added some gravitas to the melodrama.

I loved This Country, but her behaviour on Social Media turned me off. When she was writing her book. She would slag of her literary agent and record the phone calls. When he asked her not to, she kept doing it. It was just cringey and embarrassing.

Moderators PowerButchi Posted October 7, 2021 Moderators Share Posted October 7, 2021 (edited) A Very British Coup on All4 is marvellous, despite Keith Allen being in it. Another bonus of it is that it's obviously been ripped off a VHS to be uploaded, even down to the mid 90s branding on the holding stills into the adbreaks. Edited October 7, 2021 by PowerButchi
Paid Members Hannibal Scorch Posted October 8, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted October 8, 2021 Just watched the 2nd episode of the new series of one of @Onyx2’s favourite shows, Taskmaster. Alex Horne being made to eat from a big spoon is one of my favourite moments of the whole show now.
Wideload90
Caught first episode of squid game because I bowed to peer pressure. Very well made and it makes me want to watch more. I'm not one to binge episodes so I'll be taking time to digest it.
Paid Members Nexus Posted October 9, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted October 9, 2021 Finale of Ted Lasso was excellent. Some bits caused genuine anger, whilst others had me howling in laughter.  I hope it doesn't run for loads more seasons; one or two more will be sufficient.
Mr_Danger
Maid on Netflix. A really good depiction of domestic violence and a young woman’s struggles when trying to escape it. Margot Qualley is a talent and her mam is great in this as an undiagnosed bipolar mother and gran. Your laddo from Love Simon and Jurassic World puts in a fair turn in a role that would be easy to vilify but instead lets you see both sides of the coin. It skirts pretty close to misery porn at times with terrible people and terrible decisions coming thick and fast but there’s enough of a strong story to keep you invested. Probably tried to spin too many plates and some of the surreal bits are jarring. Strangely makes me really want to visit the fictional location even though it’s mostly depicted as a shithole. Good acting and... Spoiler If you don't cry by the end of episode 6, you're dead inside. Oh, and sub- not dub. If you dub you lost so much emotion from the characters' real voices. Dub ruins it, especially the red light green light voice.

Completely mistranslated, and took away from the characters and their motivations. Will try and find the thread.

Paid Members JNLister Posted October 13, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted October 13, 2021 However, you should definitely watch Borgen on Netflix with English dubbing. It's engagingly terrible. Everyone has a regional accent loosely related to their status in Denmark society and political leanings,

Obviously making lots of money is a powerful motivator towards ditching your set story plans and letting things run until people get sick of you but yeah, I believe the party line is still "this is a story with a set beginning, middle and end" Edited October 14, 2021 by organizedkaos
