I finished both series of Black Summer and that second one really moved it up a notch. Focusing on the survival aspect is always my favourite part of zombie stuff and having most of the second series based in a forrest was pretty cool. One of the best things it does that I’ve hardly ever seen before is have nearly everyone be shit a shooting. Nobody can hit a head shot. I gather it’s a prequel series for Z Nation which I always thought looked shite but might check it out properly now.

Also, fans of Naughty Dog will appreciate the ‘focus on the location then pull the camera out over the protagonists shoulder with all the obstacles the group faces in the way’ shot it uses a good few times.

There is nothing spoiler-y in this post though there are some specifics from one episode of Inside No. 9.

Seems like Reece Shearsmith isn’t a morning person.

I posed this question because almost everything the Trevor & Julia characters said had a link or connection of some kind to something seen or said in another scene. The scene with Trevor’s brothet crying on his shoulder didn’t seem to do that, and I thought I might have missed something. He said “4 years” so I wondered if the number 4 was significant?

It’s a sarcastic reply suggesting I am stupid and/or heartless, but it’s a reply from one of my favourite comedians nonetheless. I’ll take it.

Just whizzed through I Think You Should Leave Series 2 and it was just as fantastic as the first.

All brilliant but the highlights for me were

Spoiler

Corncob TV and Coffin Flop, Ghost hunting, the one with Bob Odenkirk, Professor with the dinner and taking his burger, Detective Crashmore, Claire's ear piercing, and Calico Cut Pants, which might be the best sketch I have ever seen. "You've gotta give"

More please.

Succession is wonderful. The good Brian Cox delivers some of the finest fuck offs from a tv show. I’m halfway through the second season, every main character is an arsehole and it doesn’t make you think of the Murdoch family at all, oh no.

Top Coppers

This is a BBC comedy from 2015 that somehow complete passed me by and I never heard of it until I saw it on Netflix. It caught my attention because it stars John Kearns and Steen Raskopoulos and I'm a big fan of their stand up. It's kind of a Naked Gun/Garth Marenghi's Darkplace-style pastiche of 1970's American cop shows.

On the surface it seems cheap and cheesy and it's over-stylised retro look can feel a bit much, but as it goes on it's charm really shines through with some great off hand jokes and some running gags - like the computer specialist being played by a child - always raises a laugh. It has a very child-like sense of humour which suits me, plus it features some of the best from the UK's stand up circuit in small roles.

Third series coming this year. Best TV show of last ten years I reckon. Going to say that without thinking too much about it. My favourite is the utterly pathetic Tom Wambsgans
