But we can only watch wrestling when our wives go to bed. Because being caught watching wrestling is worse then being caught watching granny porn.

Getting caught watching Rumble 2000 gets you twice the shame

Didn’t think we were allowed that in our mums basements?

I'll have you know I live in the loft.

The basement is for her more import things, a couple of bikes, some smokeless fuel and an old bag of cement. Gone hard.

Is there a more toxic character in pro-wrestling right now than Becky Lynch? Even by their standards, it’s amazing how they brought back one of their biggest stars after a lengthy absence and screwed it up this bad.

I thought last week was as bad as it could get. My head nearly burst with the irony of them scripting Becky, of all the characters on the show, to slag off the fans for disrespecting the women’s elimination match the night prior. “How dare you not care about people like Bianca Belair!” shouts the character that came back completely mis-cast as a heel, undermining and defeating Bianca over and over again. Imagine watching  Becky get cheered over all the babyfaces she feuds with, making everyone she faces look like a dickhead, and instead of recognising the problem and just going with what the fans want, you send that very character out to vocalise your frustrations. Brilliant.

And now this week, they’re seemingly so hell bent on keeping her a heel that they’ve scripted all these poor fuckers losing their jobs into the canon of the show and tried to attribute their sackings to Becky’s contract costing so much. Gross.

Is it any wonder The Rock sent an egg?

Horrific. Couple this with what Edge said to Miz about Morrison and I don’t know what’s worse, using their own cost cutting measures in storylines or reverting to awful 2001 worked shoot bullshit in an attempt to look edgy. Just keep throwing shit at the walls, dickheads.

I was wondering if they would respond to The Miz being name-dropped on AEW. They did, and Edge fucked the line up.

Absolutely. What a way to make that line utterly meaningless. Should have had Miz say something about it, fits his character.

On another note, Edge is so boring.

That segment really is terrible. Such a shame too because you'd imagine having Edge back is a draw to people who don't watch every week. His delivery is really appalling. An unimportant note but what was going on with his hair? He messed up his big "zinger" and Maryse could barely speak either. They weirdly scripted Edge to big up all of the Miz's accomplishments out of nowhere, probably just to allow them to get the "zinger" in (You're right, Miz should have mentioned it instead) and he did it all with the enthusiasm and excitement of a Nailz squash match. If that isn't bad enough, the crowd were completely dead and yet the fake crowd were very excited 2 seconds after everything. Horrible presentation. When Edge came out and did his running from to the side of the stage thing, the cameras lost him too. Fucking abysmal stuff.

Who thinks this is a good presentation of pro-wrestling? I get that they make a load of money, that's fine. They know how to milk their audience and how to fill 5 hours a week by obligation. But they've strayed so far from the watchable product they used to present in terms of camera work, direction, sound mixing, commentary and actual matches. It's not about scripted promos, bland characters, PG ratings, etc. They've had all that for 10-15 years and it's not always been for me but it's been something you recognise as pro-wrestling.

I don't know what this is. Every match, every promo, every commentary line feels like a video game. They run this live with an audience of people who want to pay to see them and they put video game sound over the top of it. The crowd might as well be CGI. If the "pandemic-era" shows taught us anything, it's that WWE doesn't care if there is an audience or not, they're going to do the same thing so this is no surprise but I'm just left scratching my head wondering who sits there watching the camera wobble up and down and zoom in and out, watching it flick from shot to shot like the DX entrance video, runs sound over the top of the actual audience in the building and thinks "this is alright this"?

Doesn't even annoy me, it's just sad.

holy cow you nailed it. I had it on in the background while I was working before bed, and I just paid attention to the last few minutes of the Raw Tag Titles Match. When Riddle hit the winning RKO and the camera shook, it reminded me of a cut scene from one of the PS2 Smackdown games when they had the storyline mode. Just cringy where, I was almost convinced I imagined it, I ran it back. No, it definetly happened.

I'm not sure why, exactly, but the piped in sound is the straw that has broken the camel's back for me. I find it distracting to the point I can't focus on the segment in question, even if it might otherwise be entertaining. Once you remove organic crowd noise, you remove - or risk removing - opportunities for organic storyline progression or character growth, which is a shame. They no longer have to change direction if a character isn't catching on with a live crowd, and heck, they can take steps to stop another Daniel Bryan from breaking out, if that's what they want to do. I can live with some of their other shit, but this is show-ruining for me.

I don't watch raw and rarely ever watch clips but was up early this morning and saw that The Miz was back and had a verbal sparring with Edge. 'Could be decent' I thought as clicking on the 5 min video. Boy was I wrong, the performances had all the believability of a poor school play but the thing that made it unwatchable was the fake crowd noise. I've seen people discussing it on here recently but was not prepared for how off-putting it is. Reactions are 2 seconds too late and you can't help but turn your attention to the crowd, who are sitting with their hands in their pockets and then realise you missed a line of the promo whilst preoccupied. Think it'll be a long time before I check out another 5 min clip of raw!!
