Sphinx
That's reminded me that the Vivera Shawarma kebab meat you can find in Sainsbury's is decent. I've never been one for kebab but this is good in wraps.
deathrey
I was thinking of trying that @Sphinx, iI'll give it a go. I tried a similar product from Waitrose which was own brand pre-lockdown which was quite nice. We don't have a Waitrose near us so I haven't been able to get it again. Paid Members Statto Posted January 30, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted January 30, 2021 (edited) The Vivera Greek kebab stuff is great too. Edit: while I'm here, full marks for the entire Squeaky Bean 'sandwich meats' range. I've been basically living off the pastrami for months. Edited January 30, 2021 by Statto Pastrami. Hoptimus
Squeaky Bean stuff is great. The ready to eat Tikka pieces and the BBQ pieces are great. They also make it for M&S for some reason the M&S tikka pieces taste better. Slightly more expensive but M&S always good quality.
wordsfromlee
M&S have a load of new stuff in the Plant Kitchen range. The New York Style No Salt Beef Pretzel roll is especially good. They seem to have taken the country by storm and M&S are selling one every 30 seconds.

Merzbow
I've been enjoying the Linda McCartney Vegetarian Fishcakes, only a quid a pack in Farmfoods who have a decent frozen section these days. They often have that Swedish Glace vegan I've cream, too.
Merzbow
Double post but I've just tried some Hellmann's Vegan Baconnaise Mayo, it tastes just like a bag of Frazzles. Sainsbury's have it on offer for a quid fifty right now.
deathrey
Anyone tried the new Burger King Vegan range yet? I'm planning on getting the Vegan Royale when I have my second Covid jab next week.
SuperBacon
This is really, REALLY good and for 80p you really can't go wrong. 8yo did say it tasted like "chalky chocolate sauce" but what does she know?
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted May 26, 2021 Moderators Share Posted May 26, 2021 (edited) She knows plenty. All soya fake dairy products taste like chalk. I'm still looking for a decent alternative yoghurt incidentally. Haven't found anything passable yet. I find myself googling the same articles / companies to read about lab made milk and dairy products about twice a week at the minute. Really having a hard time with the idea of kicking dairy. I'll eat actual chalk if its 80p for 500ml. I'm not fussy. In honesty I still struggle with yoghurts and cheese as I don't like any of the dairy free options. It's only these holding me back as I really detest cows milk. On the yoghurt front it's also cost, because I'll happily sit and go through 6 or 8 in a row but thats ok when its Morrisons own at 30 odd p a pack. Not when its £2 for 4 (but well aware this is a self made problem)

So whilst some Vegans will still eat it, officially it’s not vegan. The royale is cooked with the fries. I enjoyed them both. @Chest Rockwellmy misses went from Greek yogurt to the asda own brand soya one. She doesn’t think it’s chalky at all, but i don’t eat yogurt, nor do I get a chalky taste from soya products
