Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted November 7, 2024 Paid Members Posted November 7, 2024 That a soundtrack album for The Guest 2 was released a couple of years ago even though the sequel was never made The plot would apparently have seen Dan Stevens infiltrating a cult in the deep South. Quote

Is The Guest any good? One I've intended to get to at some stage but haven't for some reason. Quote

Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted November 13, 2024 Paid Members Posted November 13, 2024 Regarding the Norman Mailer film Maidstone and a real fight between Mailer and Rip Torn. Quote The film is now famous for the improvised fight between Mailer and Torn. As the camera rolled, Torn struck Mailer in the head with a hammer, intending to "kill his character." Mailer's scalp opened up, and a vicious fight ensued. With the camera still rolling, Torn energetically strangled Mailer until the fight was broken up by Mailer's wife Beverly and their wailing children. During the melee, Mailer bit off a small chunk of Torn's ear. The fight, in which the actors called each other by their real names, made it into the film. The fight was later used as evidence in Torn's case against Dennis Hopper, who claimed that Torn attacked him with a knife after being replaced by Jack Nicholson in Easy Rider.[21] Torn won his case on the claim that "he could not have possibly killed Hopper as he was, at the time, on the set of Maidstone trying to kill Norman Mailer."[21] Here's the fight in question:- Quote
Dr. Alan Grant Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 TIL that Sergio Leone only directed 7 films. I don’t know why, but I was under the impression that he had made a shedload of low budget films like Roger Corman. He did a lot of second unit directing, but only 7 as the main man. Only one I haven’t seen is Fistful Of Dynamite. I’ll have to remedy that soon. Quote
Paid Members seph Posted November 14, 2024 Paid Members Posted November 14, 2024 (edited) TIL Taz's original theme tune was written, in part, by Bryan Adams. Who has dropped his own version in September. Edited November 14, 2024 by seph Quote
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted November 14, 2024 Moderators Posted November 14, 2024 TIL Bryan Adams is still releasing new material! I saw a gig poster for him the other day but assumed it was some kind of nostalgia tour. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted November 14, 2024 Members Posted November 14, 2024 Always makes me laugh that Bryan Adams and Ryan Adams have the same birthday. Quote
Paid Members BomberPat Posted November 14, 2024 Paid Members Posted November 14, 2024 that's one of my favourite KISS songs and I had no idea Adams had anything to do with it. That version is shit, though. Quote

lanky316 Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 It's one of those collaborations I wondered about just how much cross over appeal some of their guests would have. I can kind of see Vader as the bullys dad and the later "Mankind beats up Eric" thing as being semi relevant figures for kids. I'm less certain that many people would care about The Monkees turning up or Olivia Hussey in as Topangas aunt to highlight the Romeo and Juliet parallels in a story arc. Mind you, for some reason Sabrina the Teenage Witch decided to have an episode focussed on everyone being huge Violent Femmes fans so there's probably an awful megathread idea for strange guest star choices in teen sitcoms. Always thought it was named/owned after that prick who fell off his boat. Quote
