pitseleh
Gutting stuff. He's absolutely sublime in the Funk vs Lawler Empty Arena match. Might have to watch that later.
Moderators PowerButchi Posted October 4, 2017 Moderators Share Posted October 4, 2017 Lance Russell's funeral is open to the public and at 11am on a Saturday Morning. And that day and time isn't a coincidence. Says so much about the man. Like I said, watching with friends.
Moderators PowerButchi Posted October 4, 2017 Moderators Share Posted October 4, 2017 (edited) Â The reason Jerry Lawler is in Wrestling after sending Lance his artwork, the reason Dave Brown is what he is which is the biggest media personality in Memphis, Dave Brown never would have been a meteorologist is Lance didn't take a punt on him. Lance was a TV Program manager from the 1950s, and a great guy. Loved Corey Graves dropping a "WHAT IN THE SAM HILL?" tonight on Smackdown. And that day and time isn't a coincidence. Oh man, that teared me up. Feels like watching with friends is exactly right - he was warm and welcoming, familiar, made it feel like the sort of TV to gather the family around in front of the telly for. That's a quality only the best TV hosts have - is it odd that the first person who comes to mind, in that respect, is Terry Wogan? In terms of feeling like you know this person, that you can trust them. That he managed that whilst also lending credibility to the show, and being the perfect "straight man" anchor amongst the madness of Memphis is a hell of a talent. He made the Empty Arena match, his call for the cameras to follow the Tupelo Concession Stand Brawl was the perfect way to lend legitimacy to that moment, and a perfect use of the mechanics of TV to add to the product, rather than just open a window to it. Lance Russell stood in a studio, being pestered and antagonised by Jimmy Hart, is Memphis wrestling, as much as Jerry Lawler, Bill Dundee or Jackie Fargo ever were. The best. Snitsky's back acne
Santino Marella apparently confronted Jim Cornette at an event in Detroit last night. Cornette [in]famously slappen Santino across the face several times backstage at an OVW show in 2005 when Santino had not run away from an approaching BoogeyMan. It was an incident that led to Cornette being let go from OVW. Video is circulating of Cornette and Santino in what looks like the lobby of a hotel, and Jim is saying he never respected Santino and he had made himself a joke. As he tries to walk away, Santino stops him and Cornette then tells passers by that Santino is looking for a fight.
