They were proper household names working PPV main events too. Getting WCW mentions on TV and in print across the mainstream. I've long had my fill of "Celebrity Wrestling". I'd rather see another series of that dreadful ITV series. It's hideous stuff, celebrated for not been absolutely dreadful, worked by "celebrities" no-one in their right mind would be excited to see and telling the audience that any fucker can do this wrestling lark while continuously attempting to see the journey your real favourites have been on to get where they are. Fuck Jelly Roll, Big Boom AJ, Logan Paul, KSI and any other of these no-marks. They wouldn't even make Cyndi Lauper's entourage. Even during their dreadful random GM era, they weren't stupid enough to have most of these people wrestle. Bring back some pretence that the wrestlers are the stars and that wrestling is an exclusive profession that requires years of dedication and sacrifice. He's there for the celeb-value but I wouldn't list him among the others. Chili Posted March 16 Posted March 16 (edited) For me I always felt for celebrities at least have them be ex-athletes from another sport like Lawrence Taylor, Mayweather or at least the veneer that they might be able to handle themselves like Mr. T (all a gimmick but on his show he had the rep that was kayfabe itself). I think when it's just a random person like Jelly-Roll or Snooki, it takes away the idea that wrestling is a tough 'sport' in it's own universe. But the genie has been out the bottle for years anyway and kayfabe in wrestling and it's rules have fluctuated since then so you can never really go back it, especially when the people in charge don't respect it either, and are forever craving the most minor of mainstream acceptance and coverage. Agreed, those Costco kids are going to be very fucked up in a few years, getting filmed to churn out content. Worth noting none of my kids or their friends have any interest in wrestling at all, at best they are aware of The Rock and Cena as some Kind of meme characters and WWE demographics skew primarily to men 45 and older.
