Is this the first time (since WM IV and V) that they've run Wrestlemania at the same venue on back to back years? I don't think it has a big knock-on effect, and although the event is the main draw, there is that psychology of 'Been there, done that' with actual cities - particularly I think for overseas fans. The other thing is if you have had a bad experience, whether it be the travel, hotels etc. in one location you tend not to want to go back.  

Plus Las Vegas is going through a few problems at the moment with everything getting so expensive. I remember Vegas in the 90's when food, drink and rooms were cheap - because they were the lure to get you there, keep you there and spend more money on everything else. It seems now (I was last there 4 years ago and it was bad enough then) that things have got so high priced that people are staying away in quite big numbers.  

I take it that WWE being WWE they've stopped other independent wrestling events taking place in Vegas at the same time? If so then they've only got themselves to blame. Some people won't mind buying a ticket for WM if they can fill their time watching other promotions during the rest of the weekend. I completely get why so many don't want a non-stop, corporate WWE weekend (although I know there are lots who wouldn't mind this) and by edging out other promotions (who aren't any competition) they're just cutting their numbers down themselves.

You mean while Wrestlemania is on?  Or during "Wrestlemania Week" ?

I can only recall a handful of times where there's been an indy show happening in town, while Wrestlemania was actually happening.

Didn’t they originally announce it was going to be in New Orleans, then once people had presumably booked hotels/accommodation and Indy promoters had presumably made plans to run events nearby, they switched it to Las Vegas again?

Perhaps treating everyone like shit, taking the absolute piss with your ticket prices, and arrogantly pumping out a mostly crap product whilst simultaneously publicly wanking yourself off might have negative consequences in the long term.

Meltzer reporting LA Knight is scheduled to face Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania. I hope Mr. Knight is ready to be the new Dean Ambrose, losing clean in a nothing match.

Yes, the Rock came out to announce that New Orleans would be host city in 2026. It was also set to be a week earlier on April 11th & 12th.

That was in February and the change was made in May. Enough time to have scuppered plans for some earlybirds.

They're stopping any venue in a 50 mile radius from screening Mania, which Vegas is annoyed about because they got Mania on the promise of increased tourists. During the week. I seemed to recall something a couple of years back they had clamped down on it.

I don't think we should overlook the possibility that people don't want to fly to a country where there's a legalised paramilitary gang of murderers running round to see some sports entertainment.

There’s about 45 shows announced for Mania Week.  Last year there was over 60.

Even in 2021 there was loads of indy shows.  It’s always been a thing since it’s been a thing.

I thought it was WWE not currently planning to reduce WrestleMania 42 ticket prices despite worse-than-expected sales? Sure I read that once or twice today.

I am genuinely shocked about this apparently sales for mania are lower than a couple of weeks ago and not a single sale was made last weekend when they discounted tickets more than half price.

The fact they shifted nothing at all when they lowered the prices so significantly speaks volumes the fans aren't taking it anymore after the WWE made wrong decision after wrong decision all the while giving uninspired and shoddy shows but increasing prices for events so much they've only got themselves to blame now.

This is shaping up to be the worst wrestlemania season in history for the company and the best part is next year is Saudi which is going too be the same if not worsen because most fans will not be paying too go to mania in Saudi Arabia and the extravagant costs that will have with travel ect.

The writing is becoming clearer and clearer trips will resign and be gone by the end of this year I feel positive on it.

Being the one to blame for the worst and lowest numbers for a wrestlemania week ever isn't a achievement anyone wants to be responsible for and he's weeks from getting it.

Honestly, I'd be surprised if the booking is a major issue. Mania is Mania. People go just because it's that.

I think the high ticket prices will make people think twice. I think being in Vegas again will make a lot of people not bother second time round. And a lot of people simply dont want to travel to America at the moment anyway.

It's a perfect storm of bad decision making really but I'd say the booking is generally down the list when it comes to something like Mania.

Lots of tickets went up for resale, didn't they? From what I saw it's looking like quite a lot of people are suddenly wanting to back out of going, or scalpers are realising they have to sell quick at a cheap price or they're fucked.

They did both days for 7/800 dollars which is a great deal but getting nothing at all over the entire discounted prices period really is worrying and significant. If they didn't boost numbers significantly during such a desperate attempt it's pretty unlikely sales will improve massively by the weekend of the shows.

And by the sounds of it currently the end numbers will be bad and under targets.

 

Genuine question about this if it does turn out to be the lowest selling wrestlemania ever is there a board of directors who can discuss and hold power to relieve Paul of COO or will he carry on regardless?
