An absolute shocker that. One of my favourite memories with my parents was staying up to watch the Mayweather fight. One of the best build ups to a fight.

The knockout against Castillo with the punch to the liver is an all time great knockout.

He did a one man show in Staines-Upon-Thames randomly a couple of years back. In a leisure centre. I got to meet him for a photo op and have a brief little chat. He gave everyone time. He told some great stories on stage during the night and had a great sense of humour.

Had the pleasure of meeting him a couple of times as he was a friend of a friend.  You could not meet a nicer, more polite sweet natured person.  I’m socially awkward at the best of times, but chatting to him was like he’d known you for years.  Very sad to hear this.

I met him once in a local weatherspoons he was lovely and charming and as others have said made you feel like he had known you for years. Great boxer he will be missed.

Awful news about Ricky Hatton. Always seemed to be a down to earth good guy.

I was working a shitwres show today and one of the lads somehow managed to confuse being told 'Hitman Hatton has died' with 'Hitman Hatton is in the audience.'  So we were all looking through the curtain like morons.

For a variety of reasons, Ricky Hatton was not, in fact, at a community centre in Wiltshire watching wrestling at one in the afternoon.

Robert Redford was one of the greats. A proper star and a great actor, who did so much good work in front of, behind and away from the camera. 

He was in so many great films, chief among them Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting and All the President's Men. There were many more, of course, and I particularly liked his performances in stuff like The Electric Horseman and Indecent Proposal. He was still good value in his last proper starring role - The Old Man and the Gun - which was quite the fitting on-screen swansong. 

Many owe their careers, at least in some part, to his Sundance Film Institute and the Sundance Film Festival, too.
