New Year’s Eve approaches and due to my advancing age, increasing number of children / pets we plan to host friends and their children for a dim sum and fine(ish) wine evening.

the plan is:

Meet friends and walk to local pub 4-7pm for a few real ales.
come back to thefatduck towers and open the first of a few bottles of wine.
play board games.
argue about the board games.
cook and eat a lot of dim sum.
move onto cocktails.
have a sing song / kitchen disco.
collapse.

So, dear readers, please share your plans to inspire others or otherwise.

Not getting pissed so I wake up well enough to go watch Nosferatu on New Years Day.

Exactly the same here.

Never bother with NYE as usually the next day is a full day at a football match on the beer, this year is no different so itll be in bed around half 9 ready to get up at 6. Always pick a random game to go to if Newcastle aren't playing, this time it's Burton Albion v Peterborough.

We usually have a mate over for pizza and games until about 9-10pm but then we have to sit up with the dog because the fireworks freak him out. Along with bonfire night it's my least favourite night of the year.

I'm away with Vicky and her family for the week in Wales. Vicky is excited about being away with me, but less enthused about being away with her family. I think we're planning a game of Cards Against Humanity for New Year's Eve, then while everybody else else is hungover on New Year's day maybe we'll go on a treasure trail in one of the nearby towns.

Not going to the pub as fuck that on New Year’s Eve. Me and my fiancée will watch films most of the day and evening. Order from our favourite Indian restaurant. Might have a couple of drinks as I don’t really enjoy drinking much anymore. Stick the countdown on. Go to bed.

Put the 2 year old to bed at 730, pregnant wife will be asleep by 9. Might start Monkey Island on the PS5 with a cider and some crisps then go to bed at 1030. Wild times.

Normally I detest New Year's Eve but am working on the mrs and trying to persuade her to go to a few local pubs this year.

I feel like I've hardly been out at all this Christmas, our work Xmas party got cancelled last minute due to Stom Daragh and trying to sort out a night at the pub with my mates has been a nightmare due to everyone being busy with family etc and even a usual Fri/Sat night pint hasn't worked out.

I'm one of those people who suffers with FOMO, even at this age, and always have this nagging feeling that everyone else is having a laugh while I'm sat at home. I've definately been to the pub less in December than any other month of the year and feel I have to do something despite it almost certainly will be shit!
