Paid Members Wretch Posted December 29, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 29, 2024 Things might change on factors outside my control (a potential scheduling fuck-up), but I’ll be working. As a bonus, it’s my week of nights, so I’ll be ringing in the new year while on shift. If said outside factors come into effect, I won’t be back at work until Jan 2nd, so it’s a takeaway and a couple of beers at my in-laws while their eight year old batters me on FIFA. Quote

You have an eight year old brother in law? Quote
SaitoRyo Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Would usually play in the end-of-year football match for the local villages, but me and the rest of the family have been varying degrees of ill for the past week so I'll be wise to sit this one out. NYE will likely be the kids being asleep by 8.30 so me and the wife can watch a random double bill of stuff we've found on the various streaming services and have a few drinks while while recapping the year and talking about the next one. There'll be some local fireworks, so we'll have to comfort the dog around midnight, then hopefully be asleep by 1am. We'll go to the in-laws the next day for lunch, where we all have to wear a new item of clothing so that, as per the national superstition, a sheep won't 'shit on us'. Quote

Members SuperBacon Posted December 30, 2024 Members Posted December 30, 2024 It's worth me telling my Paris NYE 2007 story where in the middle of the Champs Elysses, a gang of French little shits took my sausage baguette I'd just drunkenly bought, fiddled with it for about 10 seconds, before returning it to me. They then tried to set it alight as I realised they'd put a load of bangers in it and were trying to blow my hand off while screaming BON ANNEE BON ANNEE at me. This was after we'd been to Club Showcase as my friend was into Ed Banger records and knew some of them and they were there and I'd had to pay 40 euros for a rum and coke. Absolute shithole. Quote

I've just remembered that when they first approached us, this being late 2007, they were shouting about "HEY ARE YOU ON ZEE FACEBOOK HON HON HEE HON" etc ? Quote

Paris is lovely but French teenagers are absolutely feral. Quote

I remember working in a nightclub from 1999-2000. They were charging somewhere between £100-300 for tickets. I can't remember which now. The place was absolutely dead and we were all getting paid triple time to work it. Some people got asked if they wanted to finish early because of how quiet the place was. I refused because I was getting paid triple time for not much work. The night after my supervisor was taken ill so I had to step up and cover for her for a few months. Quote
Mr_Danger Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Talk my partner in to letting the kids stay up till midnight. Moan about the kids still being up at about 9pm. Fall a sleep about 10:30pm. Spend an hour and a half of repeatedly being woken up by noisy kids and disgruntled partner. Watch the Hootananny wondering why we’re not all in bed yet whilst everyone else stands in the garden looking at fireworks. Quote
wordsfromlee Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 I'll probably spend it watching the Hootenanny and telling my wife that it's not live and was actually recorded at the start of December every 20 minutes until she divorces me. Quote
