Yeah, I think if anything about that was botched it was that he maybe wasn't quite as quick to overtake as he thought he might be and the intention had been for him to push the contender off from above, which he did try to do right at the buzzer. 

As a beardy 40-something I was chuffed when the driving instructor fella won though, so glad he got the 5 points for "hanging on" all told.

Old Gladiators never had this level of worked shenanigans did it? Maybe it did and I was just too young to see straight through it. As a wrestling fan I can dig it, but I do wonder what the wider audience thinks to it.

Nah the old gladiators was brutal. If you were crap you got battered. We have been working our way through them on YouTube, and even the celebrity ones are pretty full-on. They legitimately try to hurt Vinnie Jones every chance they get.

I'm at the point where I actually laugh at Legend and Viper so there's clearly no hope for me at all.

One of the things I've noticed is that these new Gladiators seem to have to go on shows for interviews in their singlets or leotards instead of having workout gear over them like the originals. Seeing as they're also lathered in oil too, they have to sit like statues throughout rather than leaving massive stains on the sofas.

So, when I worked at The Oval I regularly annoyed people by shitting on the idea of the spirit of the game.

That said, I'd say this was even worst as Clattenberg actually took tangible points away for supposed breaches of the intangible spirit of the game. Nonsense.

Either put in the rules you have to keep moving, or no stopping for longer than a second at a time or whatever, or shut up.

And, also, add me to the list of finding Legend quite funny.

In hindsight it is completely nuts Wimbledon let him do the show. They were in the premiership at the time and he could have easily got injured.

Got a pissed off with the married couple following each other round. Bit unfair to have a 'cheerleader' at the top of the wall when noone else has done.

 

Unleash has potential I think, but it needs 'ed' on the end. IMO it sounds much better.

I liked Unleash a lot. It needs a bit of fine-tuning (smashing through the wall is good but the pieces scattered around caused a few issues and slowed the pace a bit). But the basic premise of “you’re being chased by a fucking Gladiator RUN!!!” is great. Can you imagine the fear of doing this game once Nitro’s back from injury? You wouldn’t stand a chance.

They do seem to be leaning into a wrestling influence more this series, but now they’ve established some characters that’s okay. Are they doing a romance angle with Sabre and Apollo?!

Speaking of Apollo, I wasn’t sure about him when the show started but he’s really grown on me. Diamond feels like she’s so much more comfortable in the role this series too.  She’s great. My faves are my faves (Dynamite ❤️) but I like pretty much all the Gladiators. Except maybe Comet, who, because she missed pretty much all the first series. feels like she’s still catching up to the rest.
