DavidB6937 Posted March 16, 2025 Posted March 16, 2025 I was hoping he was going to get 0 points in total and I would've laughed the whole time. But him mostly failing and getting massacred by Legend then falling during the Eliminator was enough for me. And thank God he didn't get fastest loser. Twat. Quote
Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted March 16, 2025 Awards Moderator Posted March 16, 2025 Add me to those delighted that he didn’t get through. Semi final line-ups look pretty strong, I wonder how quick the Eliminator record will be by the end of the series! Quote
Cousin Jim Bob Posted March 16, 2025 Posted March 16, 2025 I think someone had a word that he was going way too far on the trash talk and coming across a total twat. Especially boasting about getting crowd favourite Giant injured and out for the rest of the season. He did dial it back but was still boasting early here that his military skills will help him on the cargo net, but then he completely fucked that bit up which was amusing. As was Legend getting a nasty hit on him on the Edge. Shame they didn't do Powerball. If Gladiators were after revenge hits could have been funny watching him go against Apollo and Bionic in that. RIDDUM_N_STYLE Posted March 16, 2025 Posted March 16, 2025 Did like Apollo’s promo where he channeled his inner Superstar Billy Graham with a couple lines and Nitro came off better doing the presenting and bouncing of Bradley Walsh’s gags than Barney does. Still think that’s a real weak point for the show, they need a female presenter ala Ulrika (without the shagging male Glads off screen) who can do that level of banter with Brad Quote

My kids love him doing the pranks show on iPlayer. It's all very silly but yeah he has a great personality on him. Actually it's quite fun seeing most of them. Viper is 99% still Viper but does talk a little. Legend cracks a bit. And my continuous favourite thing is how Hammer loses all his intimidation as soon as he speaks. Such a nice guy. Nice hair too. Ideally I'd just get rid of Barney Walsh altogether, as I think he adds nothing, but if he has to stay, then I would just add to the hosting team - sack off the ropey kayfabe locker room cam stuff with the Gladiators, and replace that with a backstage interviewer to get the same comments from the other Gladiators just in a less hokey fashion. The also need someone with a bit of gravitas and an athletic background sometimes to explain things, and to take things seriously - when someone gets injured, you don't want to get the news from Bradley Walsh, you want someone who can actually be serious and tell you what happened and what it means for their chances. Though maybe they purposefully don't want to dwell on that side of things. Quote
Daaaaaad! Posted March 23, 2025 Author Posted March 23, 2025 Think we’ve seen the winners here barring any injuries or shock Eliminator mistakes in the final. The gymnast Joe (F) just seems to be an absolute machine. Joe H was a nice enough fella though. It was also interesting to see Amanda really make the head start from the events count - she could take her time more with the balance and the travelator at the end. Weirdest of all though, this week’s episode seemed to be teasing… a love story with Storm and Apollo? I know Gladiators has always been pure pro wrestling but I didn’t expect full blown backstage angles! Quote
Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted March 23, 2025 Awards Moderator Posted March 23, 2025 It’s not the first time they’ve teased the romance angle - there was a similar segment during the heats. Not sure where it’s supposed to lead, unless they’ve got plans for a Couples one-off special or something. Quote
davertfnewman Posted March 23, 2025 Posted March 23, 2025 Not keen on the idea of a romance storyline, doesn't make as good Sunday papers stories such as Ulrika-ka-ka shagging Hunter, Warrior walking around with a sock on his cock, Zodiac and Trojan hooking up and having a kid together while never actually having a relationship, and Cobra being in Soho sex shows pre-fame. Well give them a chance!!! Maybe Storm & Apollo will reveal they're in to felching or something. Quote
WyattSheepMask Posted March 23, 2025 Posted March 23, 2025 Who’s Storm? You treat Sabre with some respect. Much like the Anne Diamond problem, this was the second week in a row I’m certain Bradley has introduced Steel as Seal Quote
DavidB6937 Posted March 23, 2025 Posted March 23, 2025 My mother in law is absolutely convinced the Seal thing is happening. She mentions it every week. And yeah there's been a few awkward backstage things with Sabre and Apollo. I'm not sure why some of you think one of the X Men is involved but I'd probably watch that crossover. I wanted nice man beardy Joe to win but he would've needed a 30 second head start and even then he might have lost. Other Joe is a machine and only injury could be his downfall. Quote
wordsfromlee Posted March 23, 2025 Posted March 23, 2025 I really liked the Beardy Joe. He was just a normal bloke who wasn't a crossfit wanker, a gym owner or a fucking Team GB medal winning gymnast. I'm glad he got as far as he did. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted March 31, 2025 Posted March 31, 2025 Apparently Bionic and Cyclone were at the WWE try outs today. Quote

That is interesting because if they were offered a WWE trainee contract, would it be worth it to them leaving Gladiators. Bionic is 29 which I know isn't crazy late to start wrestling but I'm presuming he is is doing well out of the Gladiators and public appearances and will be set for the next decade if the show stays hot. Cyclone could be the more interesting wrestling prospect if she fancied it. 23 years old, 5 ft 10 power lifter and has shown heelish personality on the show. Quote
