Some criticism of how things were run on the day (although I’m calling bullshit that some were waiting 8 hours for it) but hopefully they’ll have learnt from those mistakes for when this opens, especially if they’re charging money for it

Not in the edition I have, which ends with him languishing in prison in the Netherlands. According to worldcat there have been a couple of updated editions, seemingly most recently in 2006, but he wasn't released from the Dutch prison until mid-2007.

Call me conspiratorial but did it seem like Giant took a bit of a dive on Duel?

You could tell someone was going down as soon as they mentioned that none of them were knocked off last series.

Not sold on Destruction yet, but at least no contenders beat it on its first time out.

Fairly inoffensive episode to begin the new series. Only real thing of note was that a bunch of them (especially Clattenburg) had just come back from their holidays.

oh, and this obviously. The glassy far away look is 10/10

And then out trotted Viper, who took that worked mega-bump in series 1 after "jumping the gun" forcing a restart. He was obviously looking at the lights tonight.

Good episode this week, was surprised to find out Primate from NXT UK was a Geordie this whole time! Hopefully both the guys this week got good enough Eliminator times that they’ll both make it to the quarters.

Haven't warmed to Destruction as a new game yet, but Everest was good fun.

I've said it before but I don't like it when contenders are gym owners/athletes/etc. I want to see plumbers/teachers/normal people on it.

Quite liked that idea of that new game Everest, but I reckon they'll lower the amount of tilt the next time it's played. Once the platform starts tilting, the Gladiators are fucked and theres basically no way of fight back uphill from that. Especially once the contenders pick up a bit of momentum. In it's current iteration, as long as you can hang on until the tilt starts you've pretty much won.

What was mentioned at the end of Giant's Everest is that if the contender doesn't knock the gladiator off then the tilt goes back the other way.

 

Have to say that Cyclone on Duel took a dive. There's no way she should have been as pathetic as that on there.

Yeah, I know. But the tilt is too much of an advantage. As soon as it starts tilting its game over for them. I very much doubt anyone could hold on long enough for it to start tilting the other way.

She did take a good whack early on, but yeah something didn’t seem entirely on the level, especially with how they had a camera conveniently on Clattenburg whenever he said about pushing.

Was well confused when Jason said he used to wrestle for WWE. Thank god he said he was Primate otherwise I’d have no memory of him at all. He seems to have retired from wrestling, as his last listed match is against that nonce Adam Page was posing with the other day

Everest could be decent with a bit of tinkering. The tilt seemed a bit too much to overcome, which puts the game totally in the contender’s favour. It did say that it would go the other way after an amount of time, but as it was there was no way back with the angle being what it was. Maybe they’ll reduce it slightly in future.

Agree with @wordsfromlee on the type of contenders though. Give me normal people with normal skill levels, not people who workout for a living.

Also, Series 4 confirmed, so get your applications in lads
