Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted September 11, 2025 Moderators Posted September 11, 2025 (edited) Yeah sorry but any suggestion that involves Trump acting in a reasonable and dignified manner doesn't count as feasible. And after all the shit he's been slinging at democrats repeatedly going back for another slap in the face would make them look weak as fuck. I asked the question because I don't see a realistic way for the temperature to be turned down in that country right now. So it's great that you are anti violence. I understand that it is your genuinely held belief. But virtue untested is no virtue at all. (And browser brady in answer to your question hopefully you now understand what privilege I was talking about) Edit: response to @d-d-d-dAz. I underestimated the popularity of this thread right now. Chili Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 (edited) Never heard of the vile cunt but he had kids and I feel bad for them because they're too young to really know shit, so that's rough especially as it was recorded. I don't think shooting anyone solves anything especially if they have the ability to cause big repercussions for more people (not that it belittles someone of less profile or even if a shooter ever considers anything like that, but I hope that makes some legible sense). I'm trying to ascertain why Starmer and co are eulogising him though, he wasn't a statesman, just some grifter prick. Edited September 11, 2025 by Chili Quote

They are. We all are. We can judge someone for killing people. But also, cool, if i'm considered patronising. I apologise. It's an internet forum, I don't think I know anyone well enough to patronise them, but equally I have no interest wasting my time on here if that's what people think. I'll leave you to it, and again, sorry if i've caused offence. Genuinely not my intention. It's just my opinion Daz. I'm just telling you that's how you come across in some of your posts and especially in the last couple of pages, you're right, we're wrong. That might possibly be why you get a bit of pushback. And again, just my opinion. And who am I? Quote

Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted September 11, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 11, 2025 James Bond comparisons is unhelpful. The rest less so. There has been no point I'm the last 10 years where Trump has tried to cool the political situation. Every chance he has had Trump has ratcheted up the temperature another few degrees. To even think that he's going to get on a platform and sing kum ba yah and try to get things to cool off is delusional. He'll be selling T Shirts within a week to make money of Charlie Kirk's death with the words Never Surrender underneath his face and it won't be long before he is subtly encouraging his supporters to take the same kind of action. The time of civilised politics that your idea of what should happen belongs to Dazz is long dead and is unlikely to return anytime soon. Quote

That's the thing for me. We hear constantly that violence is not the way and a call for calm and debate "when they go low, go high", peaceful discourse etc. - except none of that stuff actually works at all does it? The extremist far right is getting more powerful and influential seemingly by the week and they themselves are dedicated to turning up the political temperature - they have a lot to gain from it both politically and especially financially - and have no interest in turning it down. When they are so 100% focused on riling people up then it's inevitably only going to go one way. It should be no surprise to anyone that an increasing number of people will start to see violence as the answer. Nothing else seems to be working! Edited September 11, 2025 by LaGoosh Quote
Paid Members FLips Posted September 11, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 11, 2025 Charlie Kirk asked for a “hero” to post bail for the attacker who broke into Nancy Pelosi’s home and fractured her husband’s skull with a hammer. He said “empathy is a made up new-age term that does a lot of damage”. He said people dying to gun deaths was “worth it”. He was a leader for the Trump Youth that has been infecting the country with these types of ideals, shifting endless propaganda for a rapist “alleged” pedophile President. He’s not just some politician that put taxes up or maybe had a different view on religion or abortion or whatever. He was a dangerous monster, working for a bigger even more dangerous monster, helping completely gut and destroy a country at the expense of countless innocent people and he did not give a single shit about any of them. If the shoe was on the other foot, as it has been in the past, he has gleefully celebrated and encouraged it. If someone like him didn’t deserve this then it does make me wonder where the line is drawn for some people. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 Realistically if they just sit by while their schools regularly go through shootings, I would expect that the Charlie Kirk stuff would fade into a distant memory pretty fast. The only reason it'll hang around is because Trump will want to weaponise it. It would be what Charlie wanted! Quote

Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted September 11, 2025 Moderators Posted September 11, 2025 Yeah I mean I get it if, like some here, you didn't know who he was and this is the first you've heard of him and you've gathered her a bit of a prick but don't really know the deal.. then yeah, of course your reaction would be 'oh shit, no-one deserves that'. So I think a lot of the reactions you see at large will be that. For those people it is worth talking the time to explain properly what his actions have resulted in and what he stood for. It's really important not to sugar coat it And given that he was not an elected representative it's very disappointing to see other politicians tripping over themselves to try to find something nice to say. Paid Members Carbomb Posted September 11, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 11, 2025 (edited) The Trump cabal is the entity who started the violence in the first place. Sending troops to blue states, the violent and unaccountable operations of ICE, the unlawful detainment and arrest of elected politicians, all added to the ambient violence of a country like the US in the first place (how was it founded again?) are all ingredients for anyone to kick off. This kind of violence is a reaction to earlier violence. Whenever it happens, there is always a vocal body of people who seem to be more focussed on the reaction than the action. There were, until apartheid South Africa ended, people criticising the violence of the ANC, while simultaneously expressing a lot of passivity when it came to the violence of apartheid itself. The US had a lot people criticising the Black Panthers, seemingly oblivious to the levels of violence (and the apparent refusal to do anything about it by those whose responsibility it was) that these people had been subjected to that they felt the need to organise this way. Every revolution that has ever occurred (except, seemingly, the American one, for some reason) draws criticism for the violence of them, and yet the violence of the regimes that prompted them draw very little more than acknowledgment and a bit of perfunctory reproof. The violence is regrettable. But it doesn't come from nowhere, and it's usually not the first shot fired. Violent revolution follows unchecked, violent oppression. EDIT: LaGoosh summed it up quicker.
