davertfnewman Posted January 2, 2025 Posted January 2, 2025 Asking this here as the best place: if you go in a cafe or have something off a sandwich van, is it poor show if you can tell where they got their condiments from? Went to a local cafe this morning with my dad and all the sauces and salt and pepper and vinegar were from Aldi, which I know because my dad will buy the cheaper, not-as-good Bramwell's brown sauce while I insist on getting HP sauce. Didn't help that I'd asked for a bacon and sausage sarnie with brown sauce and they delivered it without the sauce on and left it to you. If I'm at home, great; if I'm out, cater to me. Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted January 2, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 2, 2025 I wouldn't trust anyone else to add the condiments daveyftroldman. You might end up with a sandwich dryer than Dazzlers dinner or so much sauce that Duncan Goodhew is doing laps of your sandwich. Quote

Paid Members ReturnOfTheMack Posted January 16, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 16, 2025 Doctors at 9, tattoo appointment at 11. So in between I decided to grab breakfast, and the only nearby place was a 'Spoons. I've had worse. £7 with a drink. Quote
Thefatduck Posted January 16, 2025 Posted January 16, 2025 One of the issues with Wetherspoons’ breakfast is the bacon. They seem to steam it. eggs- fine. Dash of salt n pepper needed but fine. sausage - deep fried; not ideal but ok. hash browns - over cooked but not a deal breaker. beans-✅ toast- a little anemic do better with the bacon, it’s the centrepiece Quote
Paid Members ReturnOfTheMack Posted January 16, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 16, 2025 To be fair, other than being a little too fatty it wasn't bad bacon. It wasn't an amazing breakfast by any means, but it did the job alright. Quote
Mr_Danger Posted January 16, 2025 Posted January 16, 2025 Some other company took over our local Spoons and kept pretty much the same menu whilst making the food worse and increasing the prices. Quite the feat to take the most reliable 5/10 dining experience in Britain and make it shitter. Quote
Awards Moderator Onyx2 Posted February 3, 2025 Awards Moderator Posted February 3, 2025 Fry ups are healthy! So claims Reach article (regurgitating a press release) https://www.getsurrey.co.uk/whats-on/food-drink-news/fry-ups-healthier-than-cereal-30872468 "The report, compiled by Catered Ski Chalet Holidays | Ski Vertigo" well at least there's no conflict of interest ?? King Coconut Posted February 3, 2025 Posted February 3, 2025 And this is the photo they use. I mean, come on, it's a 3/10 at best. Marmalade on your toast? Pre-cut saveloy and streaky? Fucks sake. Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted February 3, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 3, 2025 Lovely eggs though. Quote
Merzbow Posted February 5, 2025 Posted February 5, 2025 My brain is wired to almost instantly think something is AI at this point, there's just something off about how everything there is connecting and the beans are odd. Quote
Moderators neil Posted February 15, 2025 Moderators Posted February 15, 2025 I'm going to be in the UK next week lads, absolutely can't wait to get some fry-ups in. One problem, I'm going to be in fucking Chelsea for a good part of it. I fear I won't be able to escape the 25 quid beans-in-ramekin breakfasts Quote
