Has Shane actually been successful in anything? I know he spent a good while away from WWE doing something to do with sports streaming, if I remember rightly, but unsure if he was successful in his outside venture, the fact he ended up back in WWE would suggest not.

He handled Rory Mcilroy for a while resulting in his bonce being on the Open which was surreal

Wrestle Votes on Twitter who are normally very reliable are reporting ‘This Shane McMahon story could ripple effects for years to come. It goes beyond anything that may or may not have happened Saturday night’

He’ll probably have a podcast with Conrad in 6 Months

Vince doesn't like or trust Shane enough to tell him where the bodies are buried.

It's pretty shit they've just scapegoated Shane for that mess. It would have took some genius structuring to make something out of this Rumble with that dead build to it and that winner.

Yeah Shane has been stinking the joint out for years but this definitely sounds like he's been made a convenient scapegoat.

Vince could have easily sent him packing if he was being as big a pain in arse as reports suggest.

This is all part and parcel with the Nick Khan / HHH dynamic as well, isn't it?

For years the rumour was that there was competition between HHH and Shane over who would ultimately take over the company.  Now it seems they're both out of the running.  And this relative newcomer Nick Khan is top boy.

It's all very Succession.

If HHH or Shane want to run a wrestling company I think at this stage they need to strike out on their own.  Vince isn't handing it on, he's selling it.

For what it's worth, Meltzer has written on the F4W Board that, "It wasn't because the match was bad. It was because of his behavior backstage on Saturday."
