Chili
I disagree about her being the most exciting champion they've had. As a character she's more interesting, but I'd say a slight disservice as Shida put a proper shift in the last year and was the division leader in shit world circumstances and half the division being injured or stuck in other continents. Its massively overlooked how important and vital Hikaru Shida has been when people get all worked up about the women's booking. Britt is only gonna be as good as her opposition, she has a great start if Thunder Rosa starts up at her again. Happy to also see her and Shida clash again. Edited May 25, 2021 by Chili

Happy to also see her and Shida clash again. Don't get me wrong - Shida has done a well, but Britt feels red hot right now. However, the company has never really let their female champions feel like hot characters. It definitely could have happened. Riho kind of disappeared from TV when she held the belt, for whatever reason, so that didn't help her. Nyla Rose, as a dominant champion who had excellent mic skills, could have had a much stronger run than she did with the belt. Shida, on the other hand, hasn't been given many strong feuds to sink her teeth into, which is a shame. While all this has been going on, Baker has been on a journey from a bland babyface, to one of the most entertaining characters on the AEW roster, male or female. It's not a slight to Shida to say that Britt winning the belt (and Britt as champion) would be exciting - it's a credit to Britt that she has been able to rise to the heights she has, in a division that has, in AEW's short history, been (unfairly, particularly at the moment) treated as less important than the men.
Love-Wilcox
I wouldn't be entirely surprised if Britt loses to Shida at the PPV, only to see Thunder Rosa take the title soon after. This vindicates Rosa's victory in the unsanctioned match and gives Britt someone to chase with some real emotional connection. I could be wrong but long term story telling, innit? The flipside to that is Britt winning at the PPV, steamrolling through a few challengers then having to defend it against the person she lost her biggest match too. The King Of Swing
Deeb Vs. Riho on the Buy In could be an absolute belter. Really looking forward to that.
Paid Members FLips Posted May 30, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted May 30, 2021 Miraculously got the Bank Holiday off so it's a late one for me tonight! Really hyped, what a card! The crowd back this week on Dynamite improved the product infinitely.

Really looking forward to that. They had an amazing match a few months back on Dynamite. I love Deeb but I wish they did more with her than "put on a classic match, will you?", maybe it's due to her wrestling elsewhere and not being around enough to give her a hot storyline. Mr Butternut Squash
Can't wait to hear the roar of the crowd again. A proper crowd. Adam Page's music should hit first and the building explodes. Also really excited for the tag team title match. Young Bucks have been the highlight of Dynamite since they turned. What great, cocky shithead heels they've turned into, and they've found their footing as money TV stars in a way Kenny Omega just hasn't. And what's left to say about King and Mox? They're the best. I'd be genuinely gutted if they lost, and it's been years since I've felt that about a babyface. The character dynamic in this match is perfect. CavemanLynn
Countdown to DoN is up on IG and YouTube and is predictably excellent. I particularly enjoyed Shida saying that if Britt is going to walk around with her nose in the air, she might as well break it again. I'm even more convinced Sammy is turning. Sure, they'll have to conveniently ignore Spears going after Sammy with a chair, or make out sacrifices had to be made to sell the lie, but it'd make sense for the MJF push for the spat between him and Guevara and his leaving the IC to have been a ruse as part of MJF's master plan to break the Inner Circle. I still feel like this is the match with the biggest uphill struggle. The Bucks vs Mox Kings segment added a lovely wrinkle when they pushed the idea that Mox wanted to win the belts for Kingston. It was strange having Eddie not chatting so much. It was nice to have them put over the Bucks as try-hards, and Nick's bullring making him sound like Lester Piggott. Ogogo again came off like a million BRITISH POUNDS. I don't know if they deliberately framed the star on Cody's face like his Stardust makeup. Ogogo threatening to blind Cody so he couldn't see his daughter was the kind of brilliantly dispicable heeling that further highlighted how utterly false the whole USA USA angle is. Fuck, I hope he sparks Cody out sharpish. If the match is longer than the entrances, I'll be livid. With so many of the matches seeming like they should end in a heel sweep, it makes the possibility of some surprises even more intriguing. As much as it does involve ex-champ Jon Moxley, it is essentially the Bucks vs two singles wrestlers, which says the Bucks should retain. I can't see Kenny losing until we start seeing the wheels coming off, which I would expect to be a Bucks loss. Britt's a shoo-in, but I think that'll get the face win reaction from the crowd. I'm kind of hoping we get Deeb coming out to face her down, then have them team up as a Two-Woman Power Trip. Page seems like a nice enough guy to give Cage the win, and that would give more impetus to the dissension in Team Taz and give Taz more to moan about. Miro vs Murderhawk should be a big move sprint, but I reckon Archer's lacklustre face push and Miro's freshness as a champion will mean it never gets out of second gear. I've no idea how Sting and Darby vs Page and Sky is going to go. They've pushed it as Sting's first in-ring match. If Sting lets Ethan get him up for the crucifix powerbomb, my heart will be in my throat. This should be a by the numbers tag with a feelgood Darby win. No hype for the Casino Battle Royale, which seemed odd, but it's a show gimmick, I suppose. I expect a couple of pairings to eliminate each other, like Christian and Hobbs. I've laid my stall out that Andrade La Sombra is coming in, but someone suggested Menry, and I'd be well up for the Silverback to roll up in a salmon singlet and start splitting wigs. Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted May 30, 2021 Awards Moderator Share Posted May 30, 2021 If I order the show on the FITE app on the iPad, will it be downloadable to watch offline or does it have to be streamed?

Paid Members WeeAl Posted May 30, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted May 30, 2021 That countdown show was a bit good wasn't it? I'm really looking forward to watching this tomorrow morning now. Perfect timing landing on the night before a bank holiday. I haven't seen this week's Dynamite due to the ITV issue, but the Countdown show has tied it up nicely anyway, so I'll probably go right to the PPV in the morning.
