Couldn't agree more with this one. As soon as someone starts a sentence with "listen" my spine starts tensing up. I can forgive if it's used as an apology for something like having to move a meeting or something minor, but I've started to encounter loads of people using it to put some form of forced exclamation at the start of an opinion statement. As soon as I see that I know they're an obnoxious tit and stop listening. The one for me is people who use the argument " [thing x, y or z] says a lot about you" as some kind of morally superior argument. I even had it used with "The fact you didn't enjoy the Odessey says a lot about you" recently. Yes, the fact I thought a new move was a bit meh for my tastes clearly shows everything about me.

As in pay through app and just walk out rather than just scan on app then transfer to a till? If if I sound incredulous it’s because after a couple of months of just thinking it was the app glitching or poor connectivity we found out that as long ago as May the stores were telling people it was being removed and there’s even mention of it being removed on M&S’ site.

We have an Employee of the Month scheme at work where you vote for your EOTM, and each month management announce who has been named the EOTM in the work group chat.

I don’t have an issue with the scheme, I don’t even tend to vote in it as everyone gets it eventually (think Homer thinking he’s going to win it before being pipped to the post by the inanimate carbon rod), but the replies from everyone to the winner are so unimaginative. These were all posted one after another today- 

“well done X well deserved”

“Well done X very well deserved”

”Well done X it’s thoroughly well deserved”

”well done X, thoroughly deserved”

”Well done X. Very well deserved”

and so on and so on. 25 messages in total all saying a variation of the exact same thing

Regardless of incompetence, obesity or rank odour?

A work related one for me that's becoming a major annoyance - we moved into a lovely new expensive office approximately 2 years ago. We've got 3 big and loads of small meeting rooms with the latest tech.

And yet every other function in the office always does their calls with colleagues from other offices all sat next to one another at their desks with headsets on so we all have to hear between 50-90% of the conversation.

Oh god that hadn’t even occurred to me. Toilets at my work are actually pretty clean but still the thought of doing that made me feel a bit ill. Stranger poo particles in the air, on my mind, on my brush.

Someone was on a call on the toilet in work. I mean not only is that odd for whoever is on the other end but also I don't need to be hearing that.

At an old job at a college, my boss had recently been kicked out by his wife. He was sleeping in his van in the car park, showering in the sports hall showers before work, then brushing his teeth in the toilets before his first lecture. He also used to walk around the offices barefoot.

The number of people I keep noticing doing this in places like cinemas, trains etc.. I can't imagine ever thinking that's a good idea or that it'd even feel comfortable.

We had this with one of our science teachers at high school. He was going through a divorce and it became increasingly obvious he was living at the school. The one day me and my mate went to his classroom after school as my mate had left his bag there, and we walked in on him lying on his back on the lab bench with all the bunsen burners going glugging a bottle of vodka. Obviously quite tragic looking back but at the time it was one of those surreal, slightly scary/awkward moments you could get a lot of break-time conversation mileage out of.

An old workmate of mine was in a similar situation, I think just through poor spending and money mismanagement, coming into work and using the showers with struggling with the bills at home. Then he realised they had a gym and started working out there before going for his showers. Ended up losing a lot of weight and got into exercising more. When he left the place, they worked out he'd actually taken some of the weights home with him to work out  withand they had to take the probable amount they cost out of his final paycheck because he never remembered to return them.
