Paid Members BomberPat Posted August 12 Paid Members Posted August 12 There have been some insanely low effort out of offices at my work lately. In the last week I've seen one saying that they're out of office, but with no dates, and one which is just "OOO August 28th". Quote
King Mal the Glorious Posted August 12 Posted August 12 I'm currently on holiday. Mine say "Back on 17/8. If you need anything before then, tough". Quote

deathrey Posted August 12 Posted August 12 This reminds me, I've forgotten to put my out of office on Quote
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted August 12 Paid Members Posted August 12 I worked with a guy for over 20 years who never put his OOO on once. He was so unapproachable that no-one ever emailed him. Hell of a coder though. Quote

One of the most stern, serious and curt individuals I've ever known - he wasn't exactly a knob per se, but one of those where you'd describe him as 'didn't suffer fools gladly' basically being code for 'don't approach this man'. But he was easily the most organised, knowledgeable and hard-working person I've ever worked with. He left around 10 years back to become a psychotherapist, but I can't imagine any scenario where I'd want to sit opposite him and pour my heart out. Quote
Paid Members Chris B Posted August 12 Paid Members Posted August 12 I had a colleague once who accidentally had on his OOO that he was 'on anal leave'. It was a multinational and literally about a hundred people emailed him just to get the OOO. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted August 13 Members Posted August 13 Scenes in TV and film where someone crashes a car and then slumps over leaning on the horn. Absolutely does my nut in. EEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. See also when a phone rings and they don't answer it for ages. Both will see me almost muting my telly until its gone. Quote
davertfnewman Posted August 13 Posted August 13 My phone calls on screen gripe is the amount of times where they don't say bye to each other before hanging up. No call should end without a prolonged "Bye, bye-bye, bye!". Quote
Paid Members TheBurningRed Posted August 13 Paid Members Posted August 13 Sometimes it seems like the phone call isn’t over yet and someone just hangs up. I’d be annoyed if I was on the other end of that. Quote
Paid Members SpiritOfTheForest Posted August 13 Paid Members Posted August 13 My minor annoyance like that from films is when a character doesn't lock his/her car door. Reckless bastards showing a blatant disregard for basic automobile security. Quote
wordsfromlee Posted August 13 Posted August 13 It annoys me when a character gets a text message from a spouse/family member/friend and theres no other previous messages from them. Also in a scene in a pub when someone gets a pint in, sits down, then three minutes and two sips later say they better be off, leaving the majority of the pint. Just have the scene start when they've nearly finished the pint. Quote

"Alright mate bye, good to speak to you, bye, yeah talk soon, bye, ok mate, yeah cheers then, bye, bye, love to the girls, bye, stay safe, bye, be lucky, bye, bye" Quote
DavidB6937 Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Saw someone praising the latest Jaffa Cakes advert as "super reactive" and "an amazingly quick turn around" on LinkedIn. What, because the solar eclipse just popped up as an idea on Tuesday did it? Quote

We'd agree to move on to the next pub, drink up, then he would go say bye to someone he knew at the bar and half hour later I'd still be waiting for him to finish his farewells. Regarding the phones in films discussion, my pet hatred is when the vibrate goes off because I always think it's my phone, despite the fact I haven't had vibrate turned on for the best part of 20 years.
