Saw someone praising the latest Jaffa Cakes advert as "super reactive" and "an amazingly quick turn around" on LinkedIn. What, because the solar eclipse just popped up as an idea on Tuesday did it?

That adverts about 20 years old as well. My sister hated that woman. Called her the "half moon bitch"

I think my Dad takes half an hour. "Alright mate bye, good to speak to you, bye, yeah talk soon, bye, ok mate, yeah cheers then, bye, bye, love to the girls, bye, stay safe, bye, be lucky, bye, bye"

To be honest, I only typed that much being concise but the reality is others and I can be as long as that too.

FEAST has been ruined. I want the old one back

Managed to find proper Feast at Morrisons petrol station. It's sooo much better than that other monstrosity.

My phone calls on screen gripe is the amount of times where they don't say bye to each other before hanging up. No call should end without a prolonged "Bye, bye-bye, bye!".

There's a scene in The Omen that my mates used to reference all the time at college, where Gregory Peck answers the phone and says, "Yes. This is he". I don't know why it stuck with us so much, aside from it just being a very blunt way to answer the phone.

I think I've seen it parodied more than I've seen it actually happen in films, so I don't know how widespread it ever really was, but the flipside of not saying goodbye is in a tense scene when the phone rings and someone answers it somehow already knowing who it is and barking instructions at them.

I know a lot of people who hate takeaway coffee cups in movies and TV; they're always empty, and you can tell there's no weight to them by the way actors hold and move them. Phone conversations in films are like that for me, when you only hear one side of a conversation and they're not leaving nearly enough time for the other person to have actually conveyed the amount of information they're responding to.

My mate Owen speaks on the phone like they do in bad telly. "Hello? You're at the Supermarket? You want to know if want anything? Some crisps please. You're going to get petrol as well?"

Tie in with the "I'm getting old" thread, but it's nearer 30.  It was in a block of 1999 adverts I was cutting up for a nostalgia video so it's at least 27 years old.

What's this video you're making and will you be needing any talking heads? Asking for a friend.

Edit: Obviously the advert itself wasn't it.

It was a fake 1999 cinema ident complete with trailers and adverts.

I've just looked that up (as The Omen is uploaded on YouTube despite being a massive film) and I'm slightly inclined to forgive it as Peck's character is an important diplomat and it would be unlikely that his number would in most circumstances be available, so he's answering it presumptuously during a tense moment. I am forgiving it, though, as I really like the film overall.

Stranger is the "This is he" response - grammatically quirky.

Or on the flip side when they dial someone it goes straight through. Mine never does that and its usually a couple of seconds before it connects

Not really - if you were to reverse it, "he is this" is grammatically fine.

That said, the rules of syntax go a little out the window when it comes to the predicate; theoretically "It is I" is just as valid as "It's me", as neither could be reversed.

Going to a single-person loo in the boozer and having to wipe someone else’s piss off the seat because you don’t want the person after you to think you’ve got the aim of David Blunkett.

Ladies, we’re just… sorry/awful/both.
