Watched the first two episodes of the new series of Ludwig last night. David Mitchell silliness. Fun to see Rebecca Front and Doon MacKichan in the first episode. Presumably Ralph Ineson couldn't be in the full series as he was busy being Galactus. Anna Maxwell Martin is great. Lots of subplots going on as well. It lacks the "solve it for yourself" factor that some detective/cop shows have but it also feels like the murder of the week is just there to forward the overall plot. It's cleverly done. 

Vicky and I have also been watching Patience series 2, with Jessica Hynes as the new detective. Unfortunately it's not reached the point my ex hated during Elementary where I'd just point out the killer before the first commercial break came along. Granted, with Patience it's more me just going "that person is acting suspiciously so they did it" for a joke and it ending up being the case rather than me having figured some of them out within five minutes, and Vicky is far more forgiving of it. It's worth a watch. Series 3 is along in the new year.

The Bear is definitely funny at times but it's also definitely not a comedy. Like everyone else, I love the first two seasons but the rest are weird, up their own arse, repetitive slogs. I've been making my way through the final season because I feel I have to but it's taking me a very long time.

They've just got to a point where they've found out the restaurant is fully booked and everyone is INCREDIBLY STRESSED and freaking out about it but surely your struggling restaurant being fully booked is a good thing so why are you all so angry?!

There was a moment in I think the season 3 finale where they brought in loads of real life renowned chefs to all talk about why they love food and restaurants so much and I was just thinking "this show has gone off the fucking deep end".

To be fair, it's made pretty clear that they're not fully booked, they are massively over booked because their booking system got fucked up in the storm.

I agree on S3, a low point for the show, but I thought both 4 and 5 were a return to form. The letterboxing and change in music in S5 threw me at first, but apart from that I thought it was a solid ending. Sad to hear others didn't enjoy it, I got so invested that I feel weirdly part of it.

In between my autistic as fuck rewatches of Supernatural and Taskmaster, I have recently burned through the new version of Walker (decent), Evil (swings wildly between creepy and campy, very much enjoying it), and just started on CIA (Tom Ellis in a spin off from FBI, its by the numbers but passable).

I caught a few episodes of Evil, and I thought it was a cut above other similar shows. It's got a bad guy who's pretty unique and very hateable. Whereas I also saw some of Grimm and thought it was a big pile of shite.

I didnt mind the first series of Grimm. But I went off it quick. But Evil has kept me interested for all 4 series. And who doesn't love a nun clearing  house of demons by just swatting them with a spade?!

It is one of my go to shows to stick on once dinner is done with the kids and I am getting them ready for bed. They always want the girls to win (they were very happy when Joanna Page, or Doechi Pampam as they called her, won the last series), but there are points where they are very in to it.

Proud dad moment when my 4 year old daughter said to me "are you going to put on Taskmaster or Joe Pera, I like them both."

The second series of The Bear is one of the greatest series of anything ever, the third series had Cena being shite and everyone else shouting at each other, Jeff from Community turning up again properly was literally the only decent thing, didn't even know there was a fifth series 

In summary, The Bear for Best Comedy huzzah!

I still haven’t finished The Bear. It lost a lot of momentum when they rushed that third series out and it was just ok. It’s a good ensemble though and I’ll probably swap it in for my treadmill viewing once I’m done with Tires.
 

I got near to the end of  Wu Tang: An American Saga. In the second series they do a fantasy episode and it instantly highlights how shit the actors are. For the most they play their parts of the group really well, ODB and Method Man are really good takes on them and the lack of convincing acting doesn’t stand out because they are portraying raw uncut gangster rappers and it’s believable.  I also remember thinking the show jumped the shark with the first fantasy episode so when they introduced the second one I couldn’t be arsed.

The Bear, judging from this thread, myself, and the people I know who started watching it, must be the top show of the last five years which people have given up on. Cant think of any other show where 95% of people are 'Really enjoyed the first two seasons, but then gave up'. 

Have enjoyed a few things recently. Ride or Die on Prime. Hannah Waddington as a Bond like assasin? Sounds like it should be shite, but its a load of fun, has some good characters, a good plot, and plenty of good set pieces. Chugs along at a good pace too. If it comes back then it should definitely be even more over the top with gadgets and stuff.

 

Black Ops on iPlayer is rather good too. The sort of 30 minute comedy drama that BBC seem to still do better than everyone. Not sure of his name, but the lead actor is tremendous too, and is the star of the show.
