Merzbow Posted March 3 Posted March 3 I always see Theory with the shaved short hair as a shite and nowhere near as handsome Kyle Fletcher, like he wishes he could be him. Quote
Awards Moderator Frankie Crisp Posted March 3 Awards Moderator Posted March 3 My biggest takeaway was how prominent Punk’s “you just made the list” was in amongst his tirade. Please, let that be him just on the wind-up and not… that. Quote

Paid Members Supremo Posted March 3 Paid Members Posted March 3 I’d have turned Danhausen’s Quest for a Triple H Pointing Photo into a storyline, where he’s following Hunter around, hiding under his desk at Titan Towers or disguising himself as a waiter in Hunters favourite restaurants. That they immediately released it is a huge disappointment. Quote
Paid Members JLM Posted March 3 Paid Members Posted March 3 I watched Raw. Alicia Taylor's Samantha Irving impression really makes me cringe. Opening segment was there. I think it's partly that I've seen this exact Heyman promo too many times and partly because I don't care about Rollins. Theory is an abysmal promo. Also why did he open the door to Jimmy Uso's car and shout "WISE MAN!" before he got punched? Logan Paul sounded good. The people absolutely love watching Seth Rollins remove a balaclava. Gunther vs Dragon Lee was tremendous. I can't stomach episodes of current WWE TV very often but I really should watch more Gunther TV matches. He's one of my favourites and a handful of PPV outings a year isn't enough of a fix for me. Anyway, yeah, brilliant bit of business. Gunther vs a smaller man is magic every time and Dragon Lee brought great fire and recklessness. Lee attacking during Gunther's entrance made for a nice hot start and the crowd got into his rally at the end after Gunther toyed with him for a bit too long. Gunther is so good at shifting his demeanour as the match goes on, ranging from furious at the ambush to smug bully to sadistic monster and then finally a bit of real concern towards the end when his hubris briefly threatened to do him in. Thought Dragon Lee looked very good in defeat here, showing a ton of heart and getting the people to believe for a few fleeting moments. AJ's promo was just OK and the crowd was not very hot for it. Liv Morgan pre-tape was good! Going with simple and effective angles for this feud and I'm all for it. Rayo/Grande Americano was fine. Reasonable heat for Gable but I gather this angle and the Americano gimmicks are much hotter in AAA than on Raw. Royce Keys sighting! A clip from Stephanie's podcast, but still. Assuming he's a post-Mania project. Rusev doing the second "holding the show hostage" bit of the night only to get punked by Oba was pretty funny. I do enjoy watching Oba maul people. Jimmy Uso vs Austin theory was kept short. I appreciated that. Danhausen got a better reaction than he did at The Rumble. Him pestering Dirty Dom for a while sounds fun to me. I thought he was funny here. Not as funny as Joe Pasquale, obvs. While Adam Pearce was busy with Danhausen, Rhea Ripley went and drafted herself to Smackdown for a bit. He's really dropped the ball there. Short and sweet promo from her. Really interested to see what she can do with Jade in this feud. Penta vs Dom was a really fun TV match. Bit of a disjointed start and Penta looked a bit off the pace but it picked up steam in the second half and the crowd was hot for the closing stretch. Happy for Penta, being in WWE is clearly his dream job so it's nice to see him win a title. Closing segment was electric. Punk looked great. All banged up and battered and tired but in a good way, like a fighting champion. Excellent delivery and mostly good content from both. Punk going full Christian Cage at the end was weak and unnecessary but otherwise it was engaging stuff and the match feels huge. Pretty watchable episode of TV that, much better than the last TV I dipped into where I struggled to make it through the episode. Watching it on a delay to allow for skimming when necessary definitely helps. Quote

Please, let that be him just on the wind-up and not… that. I totally forgot about that - I noticed it at the time too. The way Danhausen’s profile stayed on the AEW website right up until his contract expired makes me think this is very possible, and that Jericho’s will simply disappear in the days before he joins WWE, assuming he does. 1 hour ago, Supremo said: I’d have turned Danhausen’s Quest for a Triple H Pointing Photo into a storyline, where he’s following Hunter around, hiding under his desk at Titan Towers or disguising himself as a waiter in Hunters favourite restaurants. Paid Members BomberPat Posted March 4 Paid Members Posted March 4 I like Danhausen. I soured on him during his time off AEW because he just seemed too grumpy and entitled on social media - it's a hell of a thing where people are now posting "getting out of jail" memes when they're going to WWE - but I think his act in general is fun. I don't really know what Danhausen in WWE looks like. I thought the debut was stupid, because there was no context to it. Do all that big silly entrance, but with him interrupting a heel or one of the GMs, or interacting with somebody backstage afterwards, it was daft to just do an entrance to...nothing. But I suppose a big entrance to stick on YouTube after the show, with none of that pesky wrestling to worry about, is the platonic ideal of modern WWE. I thought this backstage skit was a lot better. Finn quietly telling JD to take it easy on Danhausen because he's new here was funny in a low-key way that wrestling rarely is. The problem was that it felt like this angle already contained within it all the ways that WWE are already likely to fuck up with Danhausen; his entrance music starting with "You Are Cursed" made me worry that they're going to make that an overdone catchphrase, and this segment definitely looks like it will too. I would have treated the "curse" like The Hurricane's Chokeslam - have it not work and just confuse people that he's even trying to do it for long enough that when he curses someone and it does cost them the match, it gets a big pop and there's a story there. It would be so much better if they had a couple of weeks of Dom mocking Danhausen, saying how stupid he was for thinking his little magic tricks worked, and then going full paranoid about it because he lost to Penta after he was cursed, that maybe it actually works. The best thing AEW did with Danhausen - maybe even above the all too short-lived team with Hook - was during a feud between The Best Friends and Jeff Jarrett's mates. Jarrett et al were sat at ringside for a match, and bought tickets from Danhausen dressed as an usher. There's just an amazing Looney Tunes logic to that bit, that Jarrett would have been fooled by the disguise, even though ticket ushers at modern arenas don't dress like that, and it was still really obviously Danhausen. Around the same time, someone was being checked over at the trainer's table backstage, and one of the doctors there pulled his face mask down to reveal that it was Danhausen, and the backstage interview just really matter of fact said, "oh yeah, Doctor Danhausen". Like, whatever role he puts himself in, everyone just completely accepts it. Again, it's like a Bugs Bunny bit, and it's just a good extra bit of comedy spice in a backstage segment. Quote

Paid Members 2Xtreme_lives Posted March 9 Paid Members Posted March 9 Alicia Taylor done the NASCAR intro at last years championship final in Phoenix and you could tell that although she announced had only done wrestling intros before of weight, place and name as when they gave her other stats to read it really threw her flow off Quote
