Been ages since I watched WWE, but gave it a go.

I enjoyed it, by and large. The open with The Rock was a bit shit, and confusing after the last time I saw him beating up Rhodes. Speaking of, Cody did look very plastic, like one of the Autons from Doctor Who.

Roman Vs Solo was alright. It was basically a lighter version of Roman Vs Cody from Mania. But food enough for all that.

Liv Morgan is a lot better than I remember. I think this was my favourite match of the night.

Hogan can get to fuck, but Cena was absolutely the mic star.

Main event felt like every WWE match I remember from 15 years ago.

Watched maybe half of it live, and I’ve then caught up in chunks during the day.

I don’t watch the current WWE product (mainly due to not having Sky/BT Sport) so couldn’t tell you the last time I watched a full episode of Raw or SmackDown; probably 2003-ish, so watched this one due to already having a Netflix subscription and out of sheer curiosity.

I can’t say I enjoyed it. The opening with the bedsheets around the ring and video projection was alright, but the stage was… unimpressive. The long wall of LED screens made the arena look small I thought rather than some big, fuck-off grand stage for superstars to make their entrances from. I think it didn’t help that it was floor-level and not atop a ramp as well.

The format didn’t seem to flow well at all, either. It seemed very start–stop. Lots of filler with crowd shots and people walking about backstage, or panning to people in the crowd awkwardly waving and smiling at the camera. I could almost feel Stephanie stealing my soul with her scrunching up of her face in an attempt to smile that seemed to go on for an eternity. I may be wrong, but it felt as if they were trying to emulate an MMA or boxing card, and not a tightly-timed wrestling show. Is this what episodes of WWE TV are like these days? Or is that something that’s come about with their new partnership with Netflix?

They've adopted this because they can sell more tickets with the smaller set up. It does look smaller but I think they hope to offset that to some degree with all these "Largest Gate Ever" announcements. I don't think that is the main reason they do the announcements, it's likely just showing off, but I think it contributes a little. I actually think the smaller set connects those in attendance better to the wrestlers as they go to and fro back stage. I don't hate it.

I love the new set. If I had my way they'd be using the tiny PPV doorway only. Large LED screens have been well overplayed for a long time now and the fans surrounding a smaller route to the ring feels so much more intimate.

We're those LED lights on the chairs a thing WWE put up or part of the venue?

Without echoing what's been said, and hoping I've not missed it and it's actually been said:

Steph grinning for the camera made me think her kids had been kidnapped and she'd been ordered to 'act normal' or they would be for it.

And, Cole 'yeeting' like my drunk Glasewegian uncle danced at my sisters wedding...

I don't know what was worse - The Rock twerking for Netflix billionaires or 10 pages of ScarlettChad moaning in this thread.

Can’t it be both?

Has anyone yet mentioned Hogan dragging Jimmy Hart out with him? I'm not sure what makes me sadder, (a) the idea the orange twat still has clout enough to get his hangers-on a payday, (b) the idea that maybe The Mouth Of The South did it gratis, and/or (c) the notion that at 81, Jimmy still needs the money. Either way, I found it depressing.

Funny the mentions of Kevin Dunn since last night. I watched this short WWE Vault video (it's great fun but when he calls Stephanie McMahon beloved, you will throw up) and there's a clip of the Owens/Jericho break-up at 4:34 and the cuts and shaky camera work in a ten-second clip are insane. Good riddance to that clown.

Also a K-Fed segment that will make @Supremo damp thinking about the days when they used proper celebs.
