I enjoyed the show overall, the production did feel somewhat different from shows of old.

I don’t get why Roman Reigns is pushed as he is though. He just doesn’t seem to have that charisma factor of an Austin or a Rock or even of Cody.

I also think there was a lot of padding there and a shame that all Gunther got was a video package.

I do understand why all the padding was there though. As a somewhat lapsed viewer I don’t know of many of those on the current roster. So for lapsed fans/casuals wheeling out people like Hogan/Taker/Rock/Cena that gives us someone we know that can help connect us to the current roster.

Likewise we also need to remember Netflix has primarily been a TV series/film streamer and showing some of the people in those series or films in the audience gives non wrestling fans a sense of connection. It also allows for cross promotion as we saw with that Fluffy guy. Hopefully that will calm down a bit with future episodes.

This week has already taken my blood pressure to unacceptable levels, but this might be enough to have me grasping my arm and praying to the ghost of Jimmy Hill.

Roman Reigns absolutely pisses physical charisma and aura in a way I don't think they've had before. Considered in the round, he's as charismatic as anyone.

He doesn't actively chew a scene like those listed, but he merely exists and the scene bends round him and takes his form.

He's also become an incredibly gifted actor, again one of the better they've had; he's not necessarily verbose, he's not going to talk you through everything but with his mannerisms and facial expressions you'll know everything you need to know.

I'd understand criticism of his matches, that formula can be tough but in terms of charisma? Absolutely not. He's... erm... captain charisma.

Someone give him a beat.

I don’t think you know what charisma means quite honestly.

I'm sure someone's already posted this and I've missed it moaning about The Rock or fighting insane fires about Roman Reigns' charisma.

But the state of this.

"Ooh sorry mr rocky, love you Mr rocky, don't fire me Mr rocky"

Bin. Get in it.

Alright, Paul Heyman.

It's deeply important you understand that my posts always end with a silent "in the context of wrestling".

The route to madness starts when you start to believe any of this tripe is comparable to proper film or telly.

Has anyone yet mentioned Hogan dragging Jimmy Hart out with him? I'm not sure what makes me sadder, (a) the idea the orange twat still has clout enough to get his hangers-on a payday, (b) the idea that maybe The Mouth Of The South did it gratis, and/or (c) the notion that at 81, Jimmy still needs the money. Either way, I found it depressing.

Jimmy gets dragged out with Hogan every time he shows up, just to jump about in the background, though God knows what the financial set-up for it is. This is the definitely the closest to looking his age that Jimmy has ever come, though, he looked completely lost.

I absolutely love Jimmy, and him being joined at the hip to Hulk Hogan is the one thing that makes me question that love.

Yeah I must admit I still got a kick out of seeing Jimmy and felt bad for him in the moment. It was also funny that Real American got a sort of Pavlovian mini-pop for half a second before everyone immediately remembered Hogan is the worst. The inner child response to that tune is very powerful.

I am not a fan of Roman Reigns, but even I acknowledge (pun intended) how over he is and how much charisma he oozes.

Saying he doesn’t have the charisma or aura of a Rock or Austin is because we’re all older. We’re not the target audience anymore and so Roman is to the under 20’s what they were to us. That’s just how it works. But even then if you’re fully invested in WWE, you would still see him at the same level as they were 25 years ago.

Hulk Hogan is one of the easiest impressions for any wrestling fan to do, and this guy has apparently never heard him talk before. Doesn't even fall back on the easy crutch of "brother" every third word, only a couple of "dudes", and nary a "jack".
