No surprise that WWE have it done, it's absolutely their forte. That is a big difference between the companies though. WWE aren't even signing you without this level of control, or at least, cooperation. Tony gives much more leeway to talent. It's refreshing, from a people POV. It's money down the drain as a business. I suspect if other things were going well for them, it'd probably be applauded rather than derided. Quote

To save turning this into a WWE vs. AEW discussion that bangs on about AEW's merchandising inadequacies, I think a far more interesting chat is whether WWE even brings Penta in if AEW never existed. I stopped doing that regularly 10 years ago, about 6 years after I should have. But I am 100% staying up late to see Penta's debut live. I always thought Dom would be the obvious choice to take it off him as he retires but they've done two matches in a row at WrestleMania. Penta taking his mask in his last official match if he's ever thinking of calling it a day would give the type of heel heat it'd be hard to mess up (hard not impossible) but it all comes down to if there's any appeal in Rey appearing at Legends RAWs or on panels without the mask.
