It seems odd to say about shoot brothers but they're so ill fitting as a tag team IMO. They had a few good moments in AEW but on the whole I do think they bring out the worst in each other. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted January 13, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 13, 2025 A year of heel Penta snapping arms, only for Rey to bring in his shoot brother to save the day, has some serious legs. All in brilliant, colourful, instantly-merchandisable masks. Like Undertaker and Kane, only good. Quote
Paid Members Arch Stanton Posted January 13, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 13, 2025 (edited) Is he definitely on tonight? I could be tempted to pull a late one to see the debut Edited January 13, 2025 by Arch Stanton Quote
Paid Members JLM Posted January 13, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 13, 2025 Yeah they’ve advertised Chad Gable vs A Mystery Luchador for tonight. Quote

Paid Members Supremo Posted January 13, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 13, 2025 This photo, from backstage at the Netflix debut, is amazing. “So based on everything tonight, we can safely say you aren’t taking up a spot in a Wrestlemania main event?” ”Fuck knows mate, I might change my mind tomorrow. Fancy a can of Zoa? Is that straight edge?” Quote

Dr. Alan Grant Posted January 13, 2025 Posted January 13, 2025 Fuck me, I didn’t realise Penta and Rey Fenix were genuinely real brothers. I always thought it was an Edge/Christian deal. I similarly cannot stand the sling blade move and Canadian destroyers, which Penta loves to throw in 4 times every match. Despite that, I’m still looking forward to his debut. I hope he takes a leaf out of Rey Mysterio’s book and interacts with fans wearing his mask at ringside. Rey gives them a gentle forehead touch, Penta can give them a full on headbutt and bust them open. Quote

It's not like they were knocking on his door beforehand! I don't know what WWE looks like if AEW doesn't come about. Could be the biggest What if? thread we've had but considering the nadir creatively in 2019, the pandemic, the poor crowds after the shine had worn off, the fact it might mean no Cody as a ready made headliner or Punk ever coming back, they probably don't rip up NXT and start again, there's a lot to factor into just what they look like in 2021 and 2022. On Penta individually, I guess it's not unlikely that without AEW, they still end up needing talent and they pick up these big names from Mexico or Indy guys who've made a splash in Japan, Mexico or TNA. Paid Members LaGoosh Posted January 13, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 13, 2025 My prediction for Penta is he has an amazing entrance, gets incredibly over, has a great couple of months then coasts for the next 3 years. The Nakamura if you will. Quote

They're still giving Nakamura push after push, and he's had one good match his entire run. And that was on night one. Quote
