Tell me you wouldn't enjoy him being smacked around a bit by Gunther and then having to defend the tag titles straight after? I'd enjoy never seeing Finn again tbh. Quote
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted December 4, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 4, 2024 What a brilliant show this is at the moment. You can all thank me, I know it was rubbish before I started watching it again. First of all, can we talk about Punk's hoodie? A very rare piece of wrestling merch I would wear where there might be people. @Frankie Crisp bring back Secret Santa so someone can buy me it. Ta! Fantastic segment. Again, a serious Rollins has something to offer. The way Punk reacted when they started fighting was like he genuinely thought Rollins was going to clock him and there seemed a few spuds in there. That transitioning to the Sami / Rollins segment was seamless - and both of them are right! Pick a side! Except Rollins. There was time for Iyo Sky to do some botching and those fucking stupid punches while the pirate largely stayed out of the way. Raquel Rodriguez looks bloody brilliant as a heel, let's keep her that way. I'm tired of Rhea being made to look daft though, I think we need to move on from this. But not before Rhea vs Raquel, which will fucking rule. The Gunther / Balor / Dom segment was pretty funny, mostly for Dom and his two fingers. But then it was the best part of the night. Dakota Kai AND Katana Chance. In the same match. Even better? Katana's dumped the mask. (? me / ? @JLM) Oh and Baszler was in it too. Actually, this was a cracking little match, I enjoyed it loads and I'm all for Dakota winning the IC title. A real surprise how good this was. It's The New Day.... yes it isn't! This was absolutely superb from everyone involved. You could see how emotional Big E was to be back and as such they couldn't have timed this better. I'm glad they didn't attack him though because it leaves us guessing as to whether he will come back. But this was one of the great Raw segments, certainly of the last 10 years or so at least. First assignment for them should be for them to batter Otis and Tozawa and recruit Maxine so she's on telly more. "So what?!" is the line of the year, anywhere. Yeah, walk it off, son! Karrion Kross did another actually good promo! Next week's match may well be awful but he's had a good run there of about 3 weeks! Gunther and Dirty Dom, both of whom the crowd were pulling for, had a quality little match, too. Dom being bland and shit as hell is such a distant memory now. Enjoyed Gunther's little pisstake hip shake. More please. Pete Dunne's getting the 'losing streak berk heel' treatment. There are some things WWE will never not do. But it's only Pete Dunne so who gives a shit. Bron Breakker's a good promo, isn't he? Good stuff with handsome Ludwig Kaiser. Reminds me, actually, when that awful foghorn ring announcer was doing his name on Survivor Series, I could have sworn after she bellowed "LUDWIG...." she was going to follow it with "....BORGA!" How great would that have been? I was enjoying Sami vs Rollins until they just decided to stop and have a chat about what happened to Jey Uso and there's a roll-up and that's the end of that. Bloody hell. But look who's back! God bless hoodies! They used to have masks and shit before fashion moved on for wrestling reveals. Very good. Tessetore was better this week as well btw, especially when he was getting annoyed at being accused of calling Pete Dunne "Butch". He may grow on me! Crowd were superb all night, too, do all the shows from wherever they were. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted December 4, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 4, 2024 All these reports about Big E’s contract coming up are making Monday’s segment even more heartbreaking. I just assumed this meant he was coming back. If this is actually the end, he’s never coming back, can’t get cleared, and that was his exit from the company? I won’t be able to cope! I was reminded of this segment. It’s still one of the most bizarre things they ever did. Amongst two decades of shit, where nothing ever mattered, a segment plucked right out of 2024. Satisfying, surprising, clever, rewarding. If Big E is done, and can never wrestle again? Given all their history and lore? I want a newly re-united babyface Usos to knock shite out of Woods and Kofi at Mania! Quote

Something at the back of my mind is telling me there was a New Day/Usos feud that was a rare high point of mid-2010s main roster WWE. Did they have a really good tag team Hell In A Cell match or have I remembered wrong? Quote

TheScarlettChad Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 2019 WWE was a rough time. Kofimania was fun for three months, and then Brock Brock'd him. Quote
Paid Members BomberPat Posted December 4, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 4, 2024 my only worry for the New Day heel turn is exactly where they go from here. Similar to them bringing in the Motor City Machine Guns, and potentially the Lucha Bros, the excitement soon dwindles when you look at how uninspiring the tag team division in WWE is. The last time either of the main roster men's Tag Team Titles were defended on pay-per-view was at Wrestlemania, in the match that saw them un-unified. A title not making PPV for that long would have been torn apart under Vince McMahon, but seemingly nobody has noticed under the Triple H regime. Off-PPV, the current RAW champs have defended the belts three times in six months. I had a look at a list of current teams in WWE, and it's hardly brimming with dream matches either. Quote

Thought at the time it was the worst thing they could have done splitting the tag titles again. One set of touring champions like the Women's one's made perfect sense to me. Quote

I mean, they’re actually mentioning it on TV as part of the story so I’m not sure how it can be said nobody has noticed. Quote

I'm not sure it would've been torn apart under Vince. He was hardly the biggest fan of tag team wrestling. It's always been hit and miss with WWE over the years so probably why people aren't that surprised now. Quote
Dr. Alan Grant Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 I forgot how ridiculous Punk looked with the mutton chops and hideous hair in some of those Big E clips. Looks like a fan has invaded the ring. May we never have to suffer that look again. Quote

Paid Members air_raid Posted December 4, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 4, 2024 I feel compelled to post here, for want of a better place, what I think we will have at Mania - Cody vs Rock, Reigns vs Punk, Gunther vs Big E, Tiffy vs Trish. And plenty of less important stuff. Quote
The King of Old School Posted December 4, 2024 Author Posted December 4, 2024 The only one of them I could see happening is Cody vs Rock Quote
