Once I can find the match, I’ll edit this post, sorry for the lack of detail. Rocco Rock from Public Enemy did it in a WCW match to 'El Technico' (Billy Kidman under a mask): Quote
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted November 27, 2024 Paid Members Posted November 27, 2024 Another splendidly entertaining Raw that was (almost) a great laugh in (almost) every segment. They let Jackie Redmond in the ring! And then she very quickly left after Gunther didn't answer her one question and Damian Priest came out and asked her to give Gunther her mic. She's the WWE Tony Schiavone. Toni Schiavone. Anyway, this segment was fine although I'm still worried about this Gunther 'evolution'. I'm assuming it leads to something unexpected happening at Survivor Series though. They have a plan for everything. Priest is very good on the mic. I'm a fan, did I mention this. I liked the slight edge to Bianca Belair backstage during that segment. She's not going to turn heel but I think she would be a good one. It was Bayley who put the hit out on Jade Cargill, wasn't it? Congrats Bayley, you're the new Big Show. The Hug Show! The Creeds tag match with the only two men in LWO that anybody knows (I genuinely have no idea who the other two are) was an absolute blast. Brutus hung upside down cackling cracked me up. Julius is a ridiculous talent for the future. Within a week it feels like this faction is doing something again. Amazing. Then Bron Breakker somehow didn't cave his entire chest in against Ludwig Kaiser. He can't have meant that? He's great but every match he does one thing he should die of. Inevitable ending but the mass brawl that ensued was fucking amazing. They were chucking out all the wasted talent to break it up as well - I spotted Kurt Angle's son, Kenny Spirit Squad, maybe Joey Mercury as well. Superb. I was having such fun and then out came Finn Balor and JD McDonough. I fast forward through Balor matches and I don't think I've ever missed a thing. He's shite. And they won again even though I'd genuinely forgotten they were tag champs. The Warking Raiders are fine but beating them already after their recent run is stupid. Hello Vanessa Hudgens! I just watched you in Bad Boys: Ride or Die! They didn't give you anything to do in that one either! The New Day squash was really well done and Maxxine's hat is very fetching. Hilarious how she's about 4 foot taller than Tozawa and Otis. But the critical acclaim for the argument afterwards was well deserved. Easily the best talking stuff Kofi has ever done and him and Woods bounced off each other completely naturally and with feeling. Where was the lie? From either of them? Segments like these in wrestling rarely feel natural but this did. Next week's going to be amazing. We'll all be so happy to see Big E and it's going to be ruined by his BFFs trouncing each other. What happened to Scarlett Bordeaux? What did Nikki Cross do to her? Hopefully told her that she's out of Karrion's league. No wonder she battered him. All those years wasted. I know you feel, Scarlett. I was back to wincing throughout a Nia Jax match. God, those legdrops. When Yokozuna used to drop them, you could drive a double decker bus under the arch he left under his leg. With Jax you couldn't slide a sheet of A3 paper. Decent match though, I always like Bianca's stuff and she's so endearingly gullible. Bayley's gonna kill you. I don't really like Joe Tessetore, sorry. I've decided. But he's not bad enough to ruin the show, or maybe it's because it's just too good right now. I don't know. Quote

I went back and watched the two big matches from NXT War Games 2019 before watching Raw this week, and having forgotten how insufferable Mauro Ranallo's shite was, Tessetore sounded like prime Gordon Solie by comparison. He's just quite bland and unengaging. He may improve as time goes on (and I actually suspect he will) but right now I feel like I'm barely taking in a word of what he says. I liked him moaning at American Alpha though, "I'm trying to work here". More of that would help. Quote

It's quite a shift compared to what you'd usually expect from a wrestling commentator. I think the enthusiasm is there. It just comes across a little different in his style. Quote

It simply could be a case of not being used to that style and being used to a more excitable, expressive style. Then again, you can go too far the other way as you pointed out with your Mauro Ranallo comparison. Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted November 27, 2024 Paid Members Posted November 27, 2024 I might have to give Raw or SD a try based on all the positive buzz going on at the moment. Which one is generally better of the two and which one has Michael Cole and Corey Graves on it(I won't watch that one)? Quote
DavidB6937 Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Both are decent at the moment although I'd say Smackdown probably just about edges it with the Bloodline focus but that's the Cole/Graves one.. Quote

I did the same for last week's Smackdown and turned it off around 15 minutes in during Solo Sikoa's opening promo seemingly scripted by AI. I just can't get on with the production or overall feel of the product at all. Happy it's working for everyone else though. I will 100% give it another try when it's on Netflix, as the ease of watching it will mean it would be stupid not to. Apologies in advance people. Quote

Up until recently RAW was better IMO, however Smackdown is doing more for me now so would say that However, Smackdown does have Cole and Graves at the minute so you might not fancy it. Cole will be on RAW when Netflix starts mind. Quote

I’m very interested in your thoughts on both - for me, Raw has more interesting stories and wrestlers throughout with a much fresher feeling roster. However, Smackdown has the company’s best storyline in The Bloodline. I don’t think you can go wrong with either show. Judging by the kind of matches you seem to enjoy, I suspect you’ll like the style of wrestling much less than you do AEW. I mean, objectively I think AEW has better matches for the most part - but the brilliant storytelling has me more invested in what WWE is doing right now. I’m really curious as to what you’ll make of it - I hope you enjoy it! Quote

Fucking hell, I forgot about Rollins. Whether it's Cole, Graves, Paul Heyman, Seth Rollins...it feels like there's danger everywhere. Is The Miz still a thing or has everyone sensibly moved on from that? Quote
