Really enjoyed Saturday Night. The energy and the feeling of putting together a show or an event and a thousand things going on and people being people all around you and knowing it’ll all be okay but will it - the movie absolutely nailed that feeling. Stressful but in a really fun way.

Finally got round to watching Joker: Folie á Deux

Story doesn’t go anywhere, no one looks like they want to be there and it’s so far away from what people liked about the first one that it’s no surprise that this completely bombed (estimated to have lost Warner Bros around $200million)

At least Hildur Guðnadóttir’s score was delightfully bleak. By far the best thing in the entire film

Werewolves. Bad effects, bad plot, bad acting, load of old bollocks really.  Loved it.  Bit like The Purge, but hairy.  Well worth a watch if you just want some silly fun.

Beautiful Creatures (first watch) - young adult nonsense. Emma Thompson and Jeremy Irons hamming it up, witches (sorry, casters), Alden Ehrenreich being awful yet again. Why did I watch this? 1.5/5

A Close Shave - lacking in evil penguins, but an abundance of adorable sheep. 3/5

Dante’s Peak (first watch) - I love disaster movies, so how I’ve never seen this before baffles me. It’s good! Late 90s Pierce Brosnan at the height of his hotness, and the first film I’ve ever seen Linda Hamilton in where she isn’t being chased by killer robots. Awesome miniature work in full effect too. I might have to seek out Volcano from the same year. Oh, and the grandmother absolutely deserved her fate. 3.5/5

Longlegs (first watch) - obviously Nic Cage is going to hang around in your memory after this, but the rest of the cast were impressive too. Always nice to see Alicia Witt turn up in something. I just wish I hadn’t seen what Longlegs looks like before I saw the film. 3.5/5

Fiddler On The Roof (first watch) - even without If I Were A Rich Man, there are still plenty of memorable songs in this. There’s a wonderfully bonkers dream sequence in a cemetery and Topol’s frequent chats to camera or to god made this stand out from other run of the mill musicals. 4/5

Frustrated Ryan Gosling GIF

With @Just Some Guy mentioning a Pink Panther run on here, myself and Mrs JB realised that we'd never got round to watching "The Party" which is the Pink Panther crew (Sellers, Blake Edwards, and Mancini on the tunes) outside of the Pink Panther franchise.

Brownface Mr Bean, with an accent that would make Fisher Stevens of Short Circuit blush, in a 60s house of the future.  Comic timing is bang on and it's very dense with gags, but the brownface could entirely ruin it for some.

...what's the problem?

If I had to guess (and I have to, because a random Ryan Gosling gif doesn’t tell me much), it’s because I gave a higher score to a Roland Emmerich-esque natural disaster film over a national treasure Wallace & Gromit short film. Frankly, I should be put to death.

Finally got round to watching The Substance tonight and loved it. Some great practical effects and lovely camera shots.

While watching it though I couldn't help but think how a score by SOPHIE would have really gone well with it.

I saw Twelve Angry Men was leaving Prime soon, so gave it a watch. Cracking movie. Characters are really good, although the whole thing would have been thrown out as a mistrial.

I watched it for the first time a couple months ago, I think he did it and wouldn’t have changed my mind.
