Is it too late for Best Non-Wrestler to be added to the UKFF awards? I'd love to see the likes of Taz, Schiavone and Abrahantes get their due. 2 hours ago, Infinity Land said: I don't know if it would counted as a big debut, although anything would fail in comparison to Sting. It does feel like they put Winter Is Coming next week due to Kyle O'Reilly and Johnny Gargano. I don't think either counts as particularly big. As i'm not really a fan of either, but you know O'Reilly at least would be tied up in the Elite/Undisputed Era angle that's being teased. Given how recently they've finished up with NXT, it would feel pretty big, particularly given that it would allow Undisputed Era to reunite. Bray Wyatt is also available, and I'd imagine to younger fans - the age group they're looking to attract - he'd feel like a bigger deal than even Sting would. I'm not, obviously, suggesting he's a bigger deal than Sting in the grand scheme of things, but if you're, 20 years old, what would your frame of reference for Sting even be? (...Ric Flair is also obviously available, but I hope they don't go there) Edited December 9, 2021 by RedRooster
Pinc Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 Punk just firing back at hostile crowds feels so organic after a decade+ of Cena/Batista/Reigns cutting face promos to overwhelming boos. So refreshing.
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted December 9, 2021 Paid Members Posted December 9, 2021 Based on every Varsity Blondes match I've ever watched, Griff Garrison is a good wrestler with a ton of potential. Brian Pillman Jnr however really isn't a very good wrestler though. He does this thing where he goes too fast, realises he's too fast so slows down then does whatever he was planning to do really weakly.

He’s only a few years into his career, but he needs much more polishing in the ring and on the mic, but they a perfect fit for Dark or Elevation but shouldn’t be mixing it up with the big teams on Dynamite, not yet anyway.
NavigatorFan Posted December 10, 2021 Posted December 10, 2021 I love the Varsity Blondes and was genuinely happy to see them on Dynamite. Griff Garrison has a tonne of potential and I can really see him being a big star in the future, the main downfall I see is him obviously looking for cue's while under pressure in a live TV match. Best way to solve that is to give him some experience. Brian Jr hasn't decided what kind of wrestler he wants to be yet, I wish they let Griff do the lion's share of the match's and let Brian get the hot tag but as has been said he gets the most action due to his name. AEW is great at cycling talent on and off of Dynamite which is great for the Blondes and a lot of others. I watch dynamite and rampage weekly and try to fit in elevation but never have time for dark so occasional appearances on the main shows really benefits the young up and comers.

The pattern, for the longest time, was Brian Jr. gets the beatdown, Griff gets the hot tag, then Brian tags in to get pinned.
Paid Members Statto Posted December 10, 2021 Paid Members Posted December 10, 2021 I particularly enjoyed that they flipped the "They should play [insert name]'s music but then MJF should come out instead for heat" thing on its head.
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted December 10, 2021 Paid Members Posted December 10, 2021 Punk's opening promo was amazing.
Tsurutagun Posted December 10, 2021 Posted December 10, 2021 MJF playing the most insincere babyface was just great. The stuff where he was undecided about helping Dante when beaten down was so corny it was hilarious.
Guest Posted December 10, 2021 Posted December 10, 2021 The AEW audience seem to be in with the jokes, like this week we flip MJF and punks roles, next week no one’s cheering MJF. Just makes for some cool funny unique moments
Pinc Posted December 10, 2021 Posted December 10, 2021 (edited) Anyone else think Dante Martin should've remained a white meat babyface while he got comfortable with being on camera/speaking/emoting? Its good that they're trying to give him some character development but he doesn't seem to have the acting chops for it yet, and his ring-style's tailor-made for a babyface jobber-to-the-stars. I just don't believe he's this dastardly guy double-crossing everyone who goes near him. Everything about him screams deer-in-the-headlights rookie and that's no bad thing for a lower-card blue eye. They're trying to skip straight to X-Pac when he'd have been best as the 1-2-3 Kid for a few years. Edited December 10, 2021 by Pinc
Merzbow Posted December 10, 2021 Posted December 10, 2021 I think Dante is someone that would have benefited from the working relationship with Impact, get TV time there and fitting in perfectly with the X Division.
Paid Members Chris B Posted December 10, 2021 Paid Members Posted December 10, 2021 (edited) Someone suggested that Dante could be part of a Malakai Black story. Basically, everyone he's hit with the mist has started acting unusually. Cody's gone weird (even for Cody), Dante has started betraying everyone, and Pac has been more aggressive (although Pac was already a bastard, so less noticeable with him). Basically, the mist is the recruitment, spreading his corruption. It'd be goofy, but I quite like the idea on some levels. Dante and Julia are easily corrupted and brought into the House of Black - Cody's fighting it, and Pac is less affected by it. With it all being revealed at Winter Is Coming. On a more mundane note, Punk having so much fun heeling on the crowd, followed by MJF doing Punk's entrance, was enormous fun. And Sue remains the best thing in wrestling. Merzbow Posted December 10, 2021 Posted December 10, 2021 That sounds like WWE levels of hokey spooky shite.
