Tsurutagun
The one thing I find hilarious about the Trump/Woodward deal is that Trump is notoriously thin skinned and lashes out at anyone criticising him yet he's had 8 phone calls with someone who is a famed Presidential biographer who has already wrote a 362 page book about what a shite job he's been doing as President. What did he think was going to happen.

WyattSheepMask
Surely if he knew this was the guy that helped bring down Nixon then he wouldn’t have agreed to it, which begs the question of what else he doesn’t know and that no-one was in a position to tell him how stupid an idea it was. I’m just looking forward to the mental breakdown he’ll have if he loses in November. We all know that if he loses it’ll be “nah mate, you’re fake news, Hilary’s emails, something something voter fraud, it was fixed blah blah”, whereas if it’s a Trump win - “Best election ever, everything was totally legit”
Guest
Trump believes the solution to any problem is more Trump. He was pissed off that staffers hadn't told him about Woodward's requests to interview him for the previous book, and believed he'd come off better in this one if he personally contributed. Paid Members Jazzy G Posted September 21, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted September 21, 2020 Trump's apparently threatened to sign an executive order blocking Biden from becoming president. He's going to try and stage a coup, isn't he? https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/tommybeer/2020/09/20/trump-threatens-to-issue-executive-order-preventing-biden-from-being-elected-president/amp/
SuperBacon
If that doesn't end in Trump Shawshank-Wardening himself (minor spoiler), I'll be very disappointed.
Guest
He's also been talking about using the courts to declare a winner on election night before postal votes (likely to be favoured by Democrat voters, who haven't been trained to dismiss the pandemic) have been counted, following efforts to delay their delivery by sabotaging the USPS with a newly installed crony who has shares in its competitors. Things are going to get very ugly following November 3rd, when Facebook and Twitter continue broadcasting this cornered animal's every desperate proclamation to millions of whipped-up cult members across America. RedRooster
This is just astounding; https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-biden-electoral-college-electors-plan-loyalists-swing-states-2020-9?r=US&IR=T Is this the first time in US history that someone has actually decided he wants power? The system they continue to use feels so corruptible that I'm starting to think the past few centuries of elections must have operated under a gentleman's agreement or something. The US is utterly, utterly fucked.
CavemanLynn
It's not damning that Trump is proposing that - that's to be expected from him, the maniac. What is damning is that no one has immediately come forward and told him to fuck off with that shit. We knew the electoral college system was ridiculously screwed based on previous elections where the popular vote was essentially nullified by internal politics and the massive weighting given to party votes. This just illustrates that Trump is simply laying bare all the corruption, loopholes, and get-outs that have never been dealt with. Taking his shitty financial career into account, there's no doubt the guy knows how to read a contract and pounce on any vaguery or questionable clause for his own benefit. No constitutional right for American citizens to vote? It's too easy. That his party are ostensibly going along with it doesn't expose them as powerless, but utterly complicit. The US is utterly, utterly fucked. The two-term thing was, prior to FDR, a gentleman's agreement. The Republicans formalised it in law because of FDR, but it seems that Roosevelt lost some Democratic votes because he'd breached the gentleman's agreement not to run a third time. Groucho Marx talked about it in his interview with Dick Cavett in the 60s. Does make me wonder what else was done by convention rather than constitution. CavemanLynn
Rocky has 199 million IG followers. In 2016 the total voter turnout was around 135 million. Even factoring in bots and international followers, that endorsement is going out to a staggering amount of American voters.

Celebrity endorsements can be a bad thing by association.
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted September 27, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted September 27, 2020 I don't think it makes much difference at the moment really, most people in the US have already picked a side and any who haven't will most likely only be swayed by how the debates go.
