Paid Members Egg Shen 2,343 Posted January 24, 2017 Paid Members Report Share Posted January 24, 2017 The stinkiest crisps of all time were KP cheese & onion. They had a half-life of about 7,000 years, they were terrific. The closest you get these days are Golden Wonder ones Golden Wonder Cheese & Onion are super underrated. You rarely see stand Golden Wonder crisps about these days but they are top drawer. You sometimes see them on market stalls if you are lucky but Home Bargain always seems to have them, 20p a bag. Paid Members Carbomb 5,864 Posted January 24, 2017 Paid Members Report Share Posted January 24, 2017 What happened to Golden Wonder? When I was growing up, they were THE popular, big brand of crisp, with Smiths and Walkers coming second. Now it's mostly Walkers.
Mr_Danger 3,560
Golden Wonder are great value these days. The salt and vinegar are up there with pickled eggs for face scrunchieness. Love a bit of crisps with my flavouring. Where do we stand on Bugles? I'm partial to them myself but I begrudge a corn based snack getting ideas above its station. Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands 3,802 Posted January 24, 2017 Paid Members Report Share Posted January 24, 2017 (edited) I will stand on as many Bugles as you like. Shite snacks that don't even deserve to be included in reasonable crisp based discussion. Edited January 24, 2017 by Lion_of_the_Midlands
Paid Members Devon Malcolm 14,525 Posted January 24, 2017 Paid Members Report Share Posted January 24, 2017 I gave them a go but became bored of them very quickly. Not tasty enough and another failed Walkers attempt at a quirkier type of crisp.
Paid Members stumobir 709 Posted January 24, 2017 Paid Members Report Share Posted January 24, 2017 You'll do well to find a better value crisp than Bobby's. Flavour is immense too, I could gorge on their BBQ Snax all day and I'd only have to spend about a quid fifty.
gmoney 4,669
Poppadom crisps are great. They're doing them in Tesco for about 30p at the minute, its like it's still Christmas in my house.
Paid Members Sergio Mendacious 1,393 Posted January 24, 2017 Paid Members Report Share Posted January 24, 2017 (edited) Bugles are just a shite yank crisp exported to the UK. They are useful for putting on your fingers to pretend to have claws, but that's about it. Anybody ever have Chex Mix, a popular snack over here? They're a mix of Chex (a shreddie-esque cereal), pretzels, little breadsticks, nuts, and little crackers that are like the garlic bread snacks Phineas Fogg used to make (can you still get them?). My favourite flavour is "bold", which means Worcestershire Sauce, but I discovered over Christmas that I have an allergy to something in them, probably the anchovy in Worcestershire Sauce, which caused my lips to swell up like inner tubes. Didn't stop me eating the whole big bag. Edited January 24, 2017 by Sergio Mendacious
Undefeated Steak 486
The pinnacle of packet based snacks are onion rings. Nothing like hooking your finger through four or five of them to get your plate started at a buffet.
SuperBacon 8,386
Just bought a big bar of White Chocolate in Morrisons for 30p...it's literally just sugar...what a life
Moderators Chest Rockwell 7,835 Posted January 24, 2017 Moderators Report Share Posted January 24, 2017 I really expected your post to be weighing in on the bacon flavoured crisps debate. Disappointed!
SuperBacon 8,386
I really expected your post to be weighing in on the bacon flavoured crisps debate. Disappointed! Ha! Well it's clearly Bacon Sizzler McCoys followed by Frazzles...however I went through a period of annihilating one of those big bags of own brand supermarket bacon rashers every day at lunch in about 5 minutes...you feel so disgusted with yourself when you look down at that orange tinged finger at the end of it but fuck it. Morrisons update: own brand Midget Gems: 31p = excellent. Whilst I'm here, I recently bought a Golden Wonder Pot Noodle as they were 50p. What a load of shit. I'll never deviate from the original collusus again...weird considering Golden Wonder used to make the original PN...
Paid Members BigJag 386 Posted January 24, 2017 Paid Members Report Share Posted January 24, 2017 The Polski Skleps do some awesome Dehydrated pot foods. There's a French Onion soup pasta one, which is fantastic. Plus some flavoured mashed potato varieties. They are made by Knorr. Try them.
Paid Members Sergio Mendacious 1,393 Posted January 24, 2017 Paid Members Report Share Posted January 24, 2017 I remember Pot Mash, they were giving them out in a gift bag at our fresher's fair back in 1998. We made little snowman out of ours, lived in our freezer the whole first year.
Paid Members PunkStep 6,174 Posted January 24, 2017 Paid Members Report Share Posted January 24, 2017 Cheap crisps are always surprisingly good. Space raiders, tangy toms, onion rings, salt n vinegar sticks, quarterbacks. Hell, even the really cheap Happy Snax I had as a toddler are tasty.
