Paid Members chokeout Posted October 9, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted October 9, 2022 She hulk and the mention of the ropey CGI in Black Panther are a good reminder that Marvel are terrible for (amongst other things) 2 things: giving horrendously unreachable deadlines to effects houses and farming effects out to as many companies as they can to meet the release date. Black Panther has some stunning CGI in it, it also has that end fight in the vibranium train track that looks like a shit cutscene from a ps3 game, where they forgot about physics and weight. I’m sure Corridor Crew have done at least one video on it and the actual effects company have spoken out about it. She Hulk has the same problem. Everything that is office based looks like shit and there a scene where she walks into the room like a Sim. Compare it to the CGI in the awards gala and it’s night and day (literally if you want to talk about CGI lighting). There’s actually CGI firms actively boycotting Disney at the minute due to their shitty treatment of effects houses, which will probably end up with them creating more in house teams so they can treat them like shit in private. Moving away from that, She Hulk Spoiler is the closest thing we’ve actually got to the lower stakes marvel comics with its stupid side plots, no stakes team ups and 4th wall breaks and I love it. The fact they have made irrational incel hate of the character a plot point is a huge swing for them and using slut shaming and revenge porn in the episode they finally use Daredevil which will have most eyes on it is a bold move. and non spoilers for Werewolf by night i loved it. Enough little throwbacks to the hammer and universal films. It felt different from anything else marvel have done. People will argue that Black Panther is different to Dr Strange etc but they are all built on the same template, as mentioned above. Everything about this from the pace to the script, and that score was deliberately different and I’d happily watch 100 of these as experiments. An actual 70s blaxploitation style Luke Cage, a Shaw Brothers style Iron Fist. Lower budget, lower stakesAll sitting outside of the films as one and dones with the chance of wrapping the characters into the films if they want. Vamp
I really liked Wereworlf by Night. The only thing that bothered me were the action sequences which were very Marvel martial arts and felt a bit too slick. Still, I was sceptical when Disney bought out Fox because I couldn't see them making anything as different as Deadpool, Logan, the first series of Legion or even the concept of New Mutants. I'm a bit less sceptical now

I'm a bit less sceptical now I think having Disney Plus as an outlet helps massively there. Means they can do the random unexpected shit as a selling point on there without impacting on their main cinema output.
Paid Members ReturnOfTheMack Posted October 14, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted October 14, 2022 She Hulk did little for me in the main, but I'm glad it was made as its at least willing to try something different from the usual Marvel formula. The last episode was stupid fun though.
Paid Members Hannibal Scorch Posted October 17, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted October 17, 2022 I thought She Hulk was an interesting enough show which grew on me with each episode until the batshit insane finale. Great stuff. Echo the Werewolf by Night love too. More of these one shots please.
WyattSheepMask
Harrison Ford has been cast as General Ross for the upcoming Captain America: New World Order and Thunderbolts films. Im surprised he’s done it considering he absolutely hates Star Wars asking him questions about the franchise, he’s in for a whole new level of it now

You say that, but the guys 900 years old and has a penchant for crashing planes, it’s not like he’s going to be around long enough to enjoy said payday or needs it to begin with

Yeah, I’ve had a bit of a nightmare there haven’t I. Up until 2015 when The Force Awakens came out I’d never considered Ford to be a “just for the money” actor. A quick look at his filmography quickly disproves that theory though. Edited October 17, 2022 by WyattSheepMask
CavemanLynn
He'll love it. He'll get to rock up for a couple of days in a tailored suit, just to be grumpy and yell at people looking silly in PVC costumes. He's going to have a ball. Vamp
It's worth it just for the publicity tour. He was great during the Blade Runner sequel tour. You could tell he and Gosling were having a great time coming up with their own amusement in interviews.
Paid Members Your Fight Site Posted October 18, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted October 18, 2022 Yeah, money talks. Just like people asking Christian Bale what it’s like to be in the MCU and he’s like, “In the fucking what?”

Imagine losing an actor and recasting him even older. Saying that. Grumpy Harrison Ford getting pissed off in front of a greenscreen then getting annoyed at fans may be my new fav thing Edited October 18, 2022 by chokeout
Paid Members Hannibal Scorch Posted October 18, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted October 18, 2022 The ultimate thread/forum crossover https://www.cbr.com/marvel-lucha-libre-disney-plus-aaa-wrestling/?fbclid=IwAR3fROvjbwD2HOPbWqtRiBMmkNKyO8NqPijiD03yMv430hQKyUgmZycSwCs I know they did a match at AAA a while back, but this appears to be its own thing.
