Pier Six Brawler Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Anyone got either the Backlund book or Bill Apter's book yet? Quote
C-Rock Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 I have the Backlund one on order, really not sure what to expect from it as I don't know much about Backlund as a person away from the ring but I'm sure because of his history and through his runs in different eras/territories/promotions the book will be pretty insightful and interesting. I'll post a full review once I'm finished reading it. Quote
Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted October 19, 2015 Awards Moderator Posted October 19, 2015 Quick heads-up. The 50 years of WWE book is on sale for £6 in WH Smiths at the moment. They're giving away a free card for 20% starting next Monday too. So you could pick it up for £4.80. Pretty good bargain for a nice hardback book. Thanks for this, picked one up this morning. Looks like it'll be a good fun read for something that's only a couple of quid more than a magazine. Quote
WyattSheepMask Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 (edited) WH Smiths ( seen in Hull) still have the updated edition of the WWE 50 book currently in store for £6. Can't guarantee they have it everywhere, but worth a look if you're passing Edited November 2, 2015 by WyattSheepMask Quote
WyattSheepMask Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Well, I say updated, the cover has the latest logo and some Superstars around it, the content may be exactly the same, I'm not sure as I just saw it in passing and already have the version they put out last year Quote
Grecian Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Finally managed to read William Regal's book. How the hell is he still alive?!!? Quote
Otto Dem Wanz Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 I have no idea, but I'm glad he is - it takes a lot of courage and hard work to achieve what he's done ever since he hit rock bottom. He's an inspiration really, and I don't think that's laying it on too thick. Quote
Grecian Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Not at all. I've read a few rock biographies, and he matches a lot of those for the drugs. Comes across as a really cool guy too. Quote
Paid Members BigJag Posted November 29, 2015 Paid Members Posted November 29, 2015 Has anyone read/viewed the Andre book. I had a quick flick through it in Forbidden Planet the other day. It's been done in a graphic novel style. Very comic art heavy, and paperback. I was tempted to pick it up. Thought I'd get some feedback from here first. It cost £12.99. Quote

I don't know the proper definition of a graphic novel, I'd just called this a comic book in paperback form. I think it's okay, it just runs through some well know Andre stories in comic form. It was short and okay, but I'd already heard almost all of the stories. There's a similar looking one coming out this year, Andre The Giant: Closer To Heaven. It just looks the same TBH. Quote
C-Rock Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 (edited) I have just ordered Lou Thesz book 'Hooker' heard and read some excellent reviews, so really looking forward to it being delivered. I just finished ready a book on Gorgeous George was was very very interesting and he was not at all how I imagined he would be as person outside the ring. Well worth reading if you have a chance! Sphinx Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 I've seen the WWE 50 book in Smith's for £6. It has an updated cover - I guess that's the only change? Quote
