What a beautiful, brave, honest little show. Mental health in comedy is hard to pull off, but this was handled so well. Some of it was a bit close to the bone for me (especially Maurice’s confession tapes), but I was honestly blown away by this show. Everyone is excellent, but especially Julian Barrett and Olivia Colman, and the lovely Sophia Di Martino. Well worth watching. Flowers was phenomenal. I still haven't watched the second series yet but that first one blew me off my feet. The whole stuff with Shun towards the end was great. The guy who plays Shun also wrote and directed the show too, and was only in his 20's at the time too which is crazy. He's going out with Sophia Di Martino I think. He made a film a few years back called Black Pond which is supposed to be amazing that I still need to check out. It was nominated for a couple of BAFTAs but got ignored by a lot of people I think due to the fact it was the first acting job for Chris Langham after his kiddie porn conviction. Paid Members Gus Mears Posted December 27, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted December 27, 2018 I watched the ABC Murders last night. No, did I fuck watch the one with John Malkovich and Ron Weasley. I tuned into ITV Encore's presentation of the David Suchet Poirot. Two hours long, a plot that actually resembles the book, no unnecessary gore and Hastings giving Poirot a stuffed Cayman within five minutes of the start. A 10/10 television experience. wordsfromlee
New Black Mirror feature length episode at midnight on Netflix. Apparently it's going to be a 'choose your own adventure' type thing with 5 hours worth of stuff filmed for it.
Merzbow
Baby It's another European show not too dissimilar to Elite, rich kids shagging and stuff but much less of the class consciousness this time around. That's about all I've gotten from it so far..
Paid Members BigJag Posted December 27, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted December 27, 2018 The RI Christmas lectures began on BBC IPlayer and I think BBC Four last night. Episode two started at 2000 tonight. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00pmbqq Bit of a Christmas viewing staple for me. Any other fans?
SuperBacon
 Black Mirror: Bandersnatch Try and keep this as spoiler free as possible. This was pretty entertaining to run through (clocked about an hour), and it's certainly a very fun concept, although I'm not sure if I'd want it to be a regular thing. It got quite voyeuristic for me, knowing that I was 'controlling' what happens, but don't know if I can be arsed to go back and try out different scenarios. For anyone that's interested, that wants to compare, I kept a check on the 'choices' I made Sugar Puffs Thompson Twins Refused to accept job Yes, spoke about Mum Phaedra album Threw tea over computer (which prompted a ‘go back?’ question so you have to choose Shout At Dad) Followed Colin Took the tab Stefan jumped over the balcony (which prompted another ‘go back’ so you have to choose Colin to jump) Pulled earlobe Flushed the medication Destroyed computer which means you have to go back and hit the desk instead Picked up book Pax password Destroyed computer but it doesn’t let you as this ends the episode Cliff symbol Killed Dad Chopped up body At the end, went back and buried the body Said the game would be ready at the end of the day Killed Colin Went back and chose the Netflix symbol instead of the cliff one which takes the episode on a fun little detour to end it Not really sure how much 'free will' you have as like I mentioned, if you choose one thing it quickly takes you back to correct the decision for the path to work

For me, going back and choosing some of the options where it gives you the chance at the end was really worthwhile and really tied the concept / gimmick to the actual story and meaning of it all. Conkers.  i mean, it’s almost Spinal Tap levels of quotable at this point. Interesting that they  never mentioned how the tour was reduced from around 5 dates around the UK to just one at the o2. Paid Members Fatty Facesitter Posted December 29, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted December 29, 2018 Been binging on The Office over Christmas since signing up for Amazon Prime. This passed me by during it’s intial run apart from the first couple of seasons. Now up to about episode 8 of the fifth season and I think it’s up there with my all time favourites now. It’s fantastic in every way.
SuperBacon
I was the same, I didn’t watch it for years then did it all in about a month, and yeah, what a show. The only problem with binging it is that it all seemed to blur into one and I couldn’t really remember individual episodes or moments.

Awards Moderator Frankie Crisp Posted December 29, 2018 Awards Moderator Share Posted December 29, 2018 I’m obsessed with it. It’s just the most mental thing you could wish to see. If it’d been a parody, you’d be thinking ‘nah, that’s a bit too much’. Cannot recommend it enough.
