25/26 Football thread DEAD, USE A NEW ONE

After watching that Spurs match yesterday, I just can't see a way out of the bottom 3 for them.

They looked shakey at the back, lightweight defensively in midfield, bereft of creativity going forward and the forwards stripped of confidence. The only saving grace is Archie Gray, and if they go down there will be loads of vultures circling ready to take him off their hands.

Question for the Spurs fans though:

If/when they go down, what is the academy talent like that is waiting in the wings, as i can see being able to blood a good few of them and giving them proper misters football may be the only positive that comes out of going down? I know of Mikey Moore who has been at Rangers, but is there anyone else who is ready to step up?

I have tickets for the last game. With West Ham, Leeds AND Arsenal in the capital that day, if things don't go our way, I can't imagine I'll enjoy Waterloo waiting for the train home.

Yes there is to be honest. You'd think that the majority of 'stars' will leave, so I'd expect Gray and Bergvall to stay. Straight away you've got a decent midfield.

Then as you say you've got Moore, and our hottest prospect since Kane, Luca Williams-Barnett, who is fantastic. 

We are all absolutely desperate for him to play, so he could finally get his chance. Junai Byfield is a brilliant CB (Much better than say Dragusin) and Callum Olusesi is a very bright lad as well.

You've also got the players on loan who have done fairly well in the Championship already, Ashley Phillips, Will Lankshear, Jamie Donley, loads more so there is a really good youth core there already. Mason Melia, the young lad from Ireland, could probably figure as well, although might be a bit soon for him.

That would be the only acceptable thing to come out of relegation, if they all played and I just got to enjoy watching some football for once. That's really all I'm after.

I still think Leeds are the team to target. Essentially you just have to come top 3 in a 4 team mini league, simple innit? 

Ah Spurs. You'll be the early death of me for sure.

Edit: just remembered we bought a young striker from Hearts, James Wilson, so he'll probably play as well, as I understand he's regarded as one of Scotlands brightest prospects.

Brighton being labelled as on the beach may be the worst footballing statement I've seen in this thread in ages. They've won 5 of their last 6, been defensively solid and beat the Premier League Champions who they have a solid chance of finishing just behind. With the form Brentford and Chelsea are in currently anyone from 6th to 14th has a solid chance at Europe still with 6 games to go if they knuckle down and get points let alone if everyone else from England wins the European trophies and you end up with like 9 teams in Europe next year. 

It probably works even worse in Spurs favour does that, 3 of the remaining 6 games are against those teams, one against a Villa side looking for Champions League the slightly easier way than winning the Europa and a relegation 6 pointer with Leeds. 

Its only really Wolves that could just banter their way into finishing above Burnley by also taking points there too to set up a final day who'll finish rock bottom match between Burnley and Wolves.

@SuperBacon  also you have Luka Vuskovic who looks a real gem, I assume you would lose him with relegation and that would be a huge fumble.

Yeah, I didn't include him as I'll be honest if we go down, he'll probably play at least another year at Hamburg as he desperately wants to play with his brother, who got banned for doping. Still at least I was there to see him make his Spurs debut at Reading and score his one, and probably own, goal for us.

They're absolutely killing this World Cup. The ticket pricing is scandalous. The Category 1 tickets being swallowed up for corporate is scandalous. The lack of parking to force people on to public transport might be admirable but now public transport pricing is scandalous.

Then there's an actual war going on between the host and a competing team which makes their participation questionable as well as making travel difficult for loads of neighbouring countries. That's without getting into oil/gas/petrol prices.

US, Mexico and Canada are incredible countries. This should be an incredible World Cup. But it's fucking grotesque.

Remember when there being 48 teams was the biggest issue for the tournament?

I don't think they've announced whose doing the World Cup one yet.

Doja Cat was at the Club World Cup halftime show - dressed in outfit that looked a bit like a Crystal Palace kit.

Coventry and Sunderland both being Premier League teams. 

Expect Northampton to release Lee Burge this summer and be a Premier League side in 4 seasons.

From being a team in exile, slumming it in Northampton for the most depressing "home" games to owning a top class stadium and being in the Premiership? It's a great story, Lampard's been the biggest surprise for my as I really didn't think we needed a change in manager and at the time it felt like a PR stunt to get a name but he's done brilliantly with an ace team who were by far the best in the league.
