Still, at least we have a political party with a leadership that hates trans people at last. We're so lacking on that front.

I'd imagine some of this is because Corbyn is still pushing horrid little bigots like Adnan Hussain while Zarah is staunchly pro LGBTQ+. Sure the party needs more MPs behind it but you can't muddy your message by bringing in *any* Socialist just because they're red, if they're also socially shite.

This is really disappointing and I'm incredibly disappointed especially with Jeremy.

It feels like he's torpedoing the chance of this party (and throwing Sultana under the bus) to keep pally with the other four MPs, and keep them on side.

So disheartening.

I'm assuming there must be some legal liabilities when it comes to accepting membership money which meant he/they had to make it clear they weren't involved, otherwise choosing to go public in this way is an insane decision.  As @JLM said, it's completely taken away the momentum they were building.  Just another party that can't even agree amongst themselves.

Corbyn is too focused on Palestine and making that issue a purity test for this organisation, at the cost of aligning himself with people who pass that test but otherwise are alienating their prospective membership. Domestic issues are a far bigger focus for the public at the moment and he needs to recognise that. He's not great at reading the room in that sense.

It's not like he doesn't have history for making poor choices with strange bedfellows on this issue in the past.

The fact they call it a "fake membership system" (as opposed to just being something that was launched earlier than intended) makes it sound like Sultana has actually gone out and had an entire site/payment portal built without the knowledge of the party, purely to get money out of the mailing list members.  Regardless of her intentions (I'm sure the money is/was genuinely intended for the party) that sounds incredibly fraudulent/illegal.

What a mess. While I agree with a lot of Corbyn’s principles, I never thought he was the right person to deliver that message - but there has to be a better messenger out there.

I’ve voted for the Scottish Greens in the past, and I have a lot of time for their former co-convener, Patrick Harvie. They once played a role in the Scottish Government through an informal coalition, and realistically I think that’s the only route into government for the UK version of the party, in the immediate future at least. However, I don’t think there’s a party likely to get enough of the vote who would work for them. Starmer could be in a position to form a government if he were to work with them following the next election, and I still think he’d be more likely to step aside and give Reform the keys to number 10.

Thing is, Adnan Hussain isn't a socialist. He's openly said he wants the party to accommodate conservative Muslims. I strongly suspect that this is why Corbyn resisted starting a new party for so long - he knew that getting elected on a pro-Palestine platform did not necessarily mean that all of those independent MPs were of the same political alignment. And the reason why it's all going to shit now is because he's so determined for everyone to just get on that he's not prepared to make harsh decisions regarding party personnel.

It's all been rather depressing. This has me pretty much nailed on to vote Green now.

I try to remember the most important political lesson my father taught me: politics does not begin and end at the ballot box. If we expect government and parliament to solve societal problems, we are going to be waiting a long time. We can have a lot more direct impact on the world around us if we treat electoral politics as merely one aspect of our political life, and engage in other political activity in our day-to-day: start up or join co-operatives, help in local schemes, run events, etc.

Political parties are broad sweeps; we'll never be completely satisfied with any of them. Best to vote for the one most likely to get near government that most closely represents your political values; even if you don't get exactly what you want, you get someone who potentially at best will help your everyday efforts to bear fruit, and at worst won't obstruct them.

I don't understand why Labour are pushing this national ID card thing. It's clearly obvious that it's something everyone on every end of the political spectrum is going to hate it and it's a completely pointless thing with no value. It wasn't even in the Labour manifesto.

I'm only assuming they're putting it out there as a distraction from something truly fucking awful because the only other reason they're doing it is they're thick as fuck and completely detached from all reality and logic.

So they can award the contract to someone they know that will make money off it. Easy to understand.

Word already doing the rounds is that Tony Blair's son's company has been brought into the discussions already!
