Paid Members DCW Posted September 4, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 4, 2025 President nominally appoints the prime minister/taoiseach and the government ministers, but he doesn't have the power to veto an appointment or appoint an alternative. Also nominally signs bills into law, but again doesn't have the power to veto a bill, only the power to send the bill to the supreme court to test it against the constitution. McGregor had a change.org petition going to allow him to run for president without gaining the required nominations, but it only got something like 16k signatures and even those were signed by the MAGA gobshites who seem to love sex offenders being elected to public office. He has no hope of being president, but it's embarassing even associating him with public office here all the same. Quote
WyattSheepMask Posted September 4, 2025 Posted September 4, 2025 (edited) Nadine Dorries has joined Reform because of course she has. Finally given up on hoping Johnson will shag her and has moved on to the lizard faced cunt Edited September 4, 2025 by WyattSheepMask Quote

She's on the rebound from Boris, she's definitely been scootled (To use a term my mum would use) by him. Quote
Paid Members Carbomb Posted September 4, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 4, 2025 This is only news because most people probably thought she'd already done that. I'm actually surprised it's taken the cretin this long. Quote
Wideload90 Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 Rayner's resigned. Good to see some integrity from government ministers. A strange feeling following the Tory shit show. Quote

Paid Members Nexus Posted September 5, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 5, 2025 The Angela Rayner thing really winds me up, and it goes to show that most MPs just aren't in touch with reality. When you've spent the last x number of years of your career being an outspoken critic, calling Tories scum etc., when you finally get your chance in government, you have to be whiter than white. There has to be no impropriety because otherwise you get poleaxed incredibly quickly. And it's such an easily avoidable thing to do - don't spend hundreds of thousands on a holiday home in Hove. It just continues to show that Labour are blue Tories. Quote

Buy a holiday home if you like, lord knows she worked hard to get where she is (was). Just get the proper tax advice and make sure you've done everything by the book and not took any shortcuts. It annoyed me that in the ethics report it still said she 'made an error' but acted with 'the utmost integrity throughout'. No she didn't. She got advice which said 'think you only need to pay the lowest amount of tax, but we're not experts so speak to a tax lawyer' and she didn't bother because she liked the sound of paying the lowest amount. That's not integrity, that's being a chancer. Quote
Paid Members FLips Posted September 6, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 6, 2025 (edited) Bollocks to her and good riddance. A poor teenage mother from a council estate, got a bog standard education and worked regular jobs, finally landing a role in a Union. Goes on about the NHS and how important it was to her after the birth of her premature son. Could have been and should have been a proper Labour candidate as Labour was meant to be, representing the people from the same background she came from and standing strong with the unions for people's rights, supporting the NHS and workers. Instead the first whiff of proper power she gets, she heads right with this shit Labour, fucking off the NHS, fucking off the working people, fucking off the disabled, and buying 6 figure holiday homes she dodges tax on. Fuck her, she should have been better. Edited September 7, 2025 by FLips Quote

I'm not sure 'left' is one. I agree completely with your analysis. The disappointment is she seemed such a promising voice in parliament for normal people and it just hasn't happened and now she's banished. Shite. Still, at least Reform are showing why they might not actually be taken seriously by the time it gets to election time. State of this nonsense. Quote
Paid Members FLips Posted September 6, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 6, 2025 Apologies, early morning, hadn’t had my coffee and somehow mixed my left and rights up. That clip is brutal. My second big mistake of the morning was clicking that. Quote
