One had gender reassignment and they moved to Denmark and took citizenship there. It was the final solution for them to try and have a career in music away from their abusive parents.

For best pop song, I nominate Vamos A La Playa by Righeira. The song never broke the Top 40 in the UK but was the "Saturday Night" of most of continental Europe in around 1983. Two Italian men singing in Spanish about a nuclear bomb exploding in the ocean. Topical for its time.
