That sounds fun. I couldn’t sit through American football for it though, so I’m hoping there’ll be compilations of that kind of thing. Yep. You just missed an important field goal, how do you feel? also, just before a play, one of the players in the LA game threw up. Nice nod to Droz there
Paid Members FLips Posted February 9, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted February 9, 2020 I've never really watched American Football but thought I'd tune in to this if only to say in a year when it bombs that I was there, because I missed the first one. It actually was quite fun. Much faster paced than NFL and they do interviews and bits between plays. A guy missed an easy kick yesterday and within 10 seconds he had a mic in his face and someone going "phwoarrrr what happened there?". I'm not converted over to the sport or anything but it certainly wasn't awful. Easy background stuff.
WyattSheepMask
The XFL is a ratings winner... at least compared to RAW & Smackdown. According to ABC, the opener between Seattle and Washington drew 3.3million viewers* compared to RAW being watched by an average of 2.17million on USA Network and Smackdown drawing an average of 2.5million on FOX. Whether that’s just down to first game intrigue or not remains to be seen, but it’s good to see that people were willing to give it a chance as I reckon the original XFL is a bit of joke to purists. * “but AEW did better in 18-49, so AEW won”

Paid Members tiger_rick Posted February 10, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted February 10, 2020 Comparing the XFL to Raw and Smackdown is stupider than dragging AEW into it for a cheap dig.
Paid Members Statto Posted February 10, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted February 10, 2020 The important ratings news is that the top two highest rated sports broadcasts over the weekend were XFL on ABC & XFL on Fox. There will undoubtedly be some day 1 intrigue in there that will fall away, but that’s a solid start. Another reasonably important stat is that FanDuel Sportsbook did 20x the business on the first XFL game compared to the first AAF game last year- the XFL has openly & wholeheartedly embraced the gambling aspect of the sport. Paid Members mim731 Posted February 11, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted February 11, 2020 Is there a highlights show anywhere, something akin to MOTD that I can catch up on the first week? I'm curious as to whether it's worth a look for week 2.

Paid Members Kaz Hayashi Posted February 17, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted February 17, 2020 I’ve thoroughly enjoyed these initial 2 match weeks. As it stands, the Roughnecks are standing out as the force to be reckoned with. The Defenders are also looking pretty solid. They face each other in week 7, should be a great battle if both teams continue their dominance.
Paid Members FLips Posted February 17, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted February 17, 2020 The heel turn of Matt McGloin has been beautiful. In the space of two weeks to go from inspirational hero to petulant zero is quite something.
Paid Members BigJag Posted February 17, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted February 17, 2020 What's he done? I saw a bit of the XFL yesterday. There was an interception. The returner took his helmet off to celebrate and got his team a 15 yard penalty. Possession gained, but field position lost. He was immediately interviewed on the side-lines. No mention of the penalty was made. Which came across a little weird.

The interviewer asked him what needed to change for the 2nd half and he basically said "Everything needs to change" but it was more directed at the coaching. That 15yd penalty was because he removed his helmet AND threw the ball into the crowd. I'm not sure the removal of the helmet was the reason for the penalty, because Houston WR Phillips took his off to celebrate each of his 3 TDs last night. What I am noticing is that some players just don't want to be interviewed, and make it very clear. Some do, and clearly enjoy it, but I think they might tone down the interviews. I think they should just get a list of guys who are happy to be interviewed and only bother them. Paid Members BigJag Posted March 11, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted March 11, 2020 Wonder how this will affect the XFL attendances going forward? It's unlikely that this sort of eventuality was planned for.
Guest
Vince should count himself lucky it's only a regular game. He'd be mighty pissed off if his biggest event of the year was coming up in the next few weeks.
