Cody v Gunther was an exercise in trying to get through the whole thing without either one of them coming out the other side in any different position whatsoever, with no damage done to their standing.

I fully support this stance and booking strategy for these shows.

That's the basic gist of it, yeah. But it was the second (I think) Saudi show, Greatest Royal Rumble, main evented by a 50 man Royal Rumble match. WWE were (allegedly) presented with a list of entrants the crown prince wanted in the match, apparently including the likes of Yokozuna and the Ultimate Warrior. 

The Yoko substitute wasn't an NXT guy though, or indeed a pro wrestler - he was just an actual sumo guy who (to the best of my knowledge) had never done anything in pro wrestling before or since.

yeah, it was Hiroki Sumi, actually a pretty good Sumo guy. It's one of my favourite weird wrestling things in years that he just turned up, the commentators acted like it was big deal, and we've never seen him since. Not even getting a sumo gimmick match out of him.

Pretty much a filler show as mentioned in previous posts. Enjoyed the Sami stuff and the brawl between Randy and KO. Lets keep the payoff to that feud for a real show! 

Did anyone else spot the Crown Jewel championship on Cody's shoulder when they showed the Post Show Press Conference graphic before Cody vs Gunther? Bit of a blunder there ?

Watched the main event, which for some reason they had on first. The match was meh but absolutely everything around it was magnificently staged by the best actors in the business. The next evolution in the best storyline in wrestling history. Roman's expressions were more than enough for me, but now they get to build with Sami again. So many ways they can go , all of them great.

Then I tried watching the million women tag match but gave up after the botch. Iyo Sky and Kairi Sane are RUBBISH. Then I fell asleep.

Write about the ppv that wasn't a ppv it was a special...... even though they now run ppv's on Saturdays now not Sunday's which makes having this happening is literally pointless and in no way special or justifiable it's just there to cater/satisfy anyone longing for a throwback show that makes the refs look like a server at a 3 star Italian restaurant.

The only thoughts or feelings on this show is whoever agreed or decided to make the live broadcast unwatchable and genuinely the most infuriating and unfathomable piece of shit needs to be immediately future endeavoured. 

The first match was formatted and aired as follows.

Entrances.....

Immediate start of the match 

Commercial break comes 3 mins in maybe 3 and half 

 

And we had silence and nothing for 4 minutes or slightly more.....

 

Goes back to the match as they are going into the hot tag comeback.....we missed the entire chunk of the tag match with four of their biggest names and built story and actual use and argument having the show at all making sense and they gave three breaks and waiting in stone silence for a short timed match..... what the fuck was the point at all you watch more in their highlight YouTube videos.

It looks a lot like they're on the way to booking their two biggest stories into separate six man tag matches at MITB, which given the response to Triple-Threat-A-Mania is wild

I’ve said it for years going back to when they brought it back in the 00s…SNME holds ZERO appeal to me in the sense that I don’t view at as the special event it was during its 80s/early 90s peak.

The whole idea of it back then was you only had 4 PPVs and occasional top tier/non-squash matches on weekly TV so it had a natural appeal. Now it’s simply a name and a theme tune - with added Jesse Ventura - but with matches or a variation of that we see weekly on Raw/SD or the endless PLEs.

Think I’ll watch Rockers v Brain Busters & Hogan v Boss Man in the cage later instead.

I think with anything like this, they get one chance to explain themselves. Let's hold off on criticising them until they inevitably fumble the explanation. Then this deserves all the criticism it’ll get.

What could possibly be a good explanation? I'm just not invested in Seth. Why would anyone want to follow that gimp is beyond me, let alone someone who took him out. And yeah, they'll fumble it. That whole boom period was a complete fluke. Unbelievable.

Glad Bronson is back. I was really enjoying him before he was injured. But I don't want him anywhere near Seth unless it's squashing him over and over.
