Was glad to see Bill didnt brain himself by headbutting something before the match. Unfortunately he did manage to smash his bonce into the non-gimmicked part of the crowd barrier.

Aim for the middle of the loose panel Bill! 

 

I love Goldberg and will always defend him, but he doesnt make it difficult to take the piss.

Was his retirement speech being cut short an innocent TV miss-timing, burial or just general incompetence? Who knows, its the WWE way!

It was fine. Bill no-sold a chop and grinned which got a big reaction from the crowd. But he moved around slow and lumbering, he shouldnt have won but passing out is a bit of a downer way to lose a retirement match. Five stars compared to the Taker Saudi match though.

Same here. It's never good to see anyone get injured. I won't miss his inane cackling and annoying voice but I would much rather just fast forward the parts where he is on screen than him be injured.

At first I wasn't sure if it was a work or not. Just seconds earlier Cole said something about 'the knee Rollins was favouring on Monday' and I did think he was doing that whole 'Heel pretends to be injured to sucker the babyface' thing but after he lost I figured it was legit as I would imagine almost everybody figured he was winning. 

He is their top heel on Raw so it will be interesting to see how they pivot and who they choose to run with in his absence.

Plus, if this gives CM Punk something else to do for a while then I am all for that too.

I know the Observer isn’t really the barometer of good judgment and opinion these days but their SNME reporter for last night, pulled this corker out…

Ah this topic went the way I knew it would as soon as I'd seen the show.

Anyway.. err Jelly Roll seemed over? And he also got kicked in the head so that was nice.

Can't remember much else apart from they'd be smart to push Knight off the back of him "winning" there, even if it wasn't the original plan. He's surprisingly over still all things considered.

Have to wonder if it impacted on the main event at all but it was fine. Would've liked Gunther smashing him but he still gets to be the one to retire Bill Goldberg. I bet Bret texts him every week to remind him to use his full name.

Goldberg looked fine. Didn’t embarrass himself anywhere near as much as he could have. The story is that it’s been twenty years and Triple H has learnt nothing, still sending Goldberg out there to wrestle overlong WWE-style matches where he sells the fucking leg. May as well be Unforgiven 2003 all over again. Hunter doesn’t get it. Never has. Never will. Could and should have achieved exactly the same result and match quality in half the time. Probably wouldn’t have had to cut off Goldberg’s retirement speech then, too.

A cynic would wonder whether it’s all related. First the fans are told to, “fuck off being a critic,” then CM Punk is sent on the Blood Money Humiliation Tour, then R-Truth is turned into a complete nothing in record time, then Goldberg is sent out there to look a bit rubbish, before being cut off. Has The Rock’s meddling turned Hunter into the Hater of the Year?

Sad that’ll be the end of Goldberg, but at least we can still follow what his son, Joey Essex, gets up to on ITV2.

As a proud, card-carrying member of the Seth’s a Bit Shit Club, I’m still not going to take any joy or excitement out of someone getting injured. Especially not this weekend. Good on him for seemingly realising how fucked he was, and at least putting LA Knight over as best he could. It’ll be interesting to see how they pivot if Seth is out for a significant amount of time. They should shoot an angle where Breakker batters him. Give LA Knight the briefcase. He should have won it, anyway. Man is ridiculously over, despite them never going the whole hog with him.

Regardless what they do with Seth, the  spreadsheet of CM Punk matches for the rest of the year must be blank, now.

All the Jelly Roll/Orton/Drew/Logan stuff coming straight after AEW All In Texas absolutely reeked of 1998 WCW, still doing shitty celebrity tags when the competition is on fire. I know metrics and revenue streams are completely different, so it won’t matter anywhere near as much, but the stink is still there. I’d be baffled as to who could possibly be into any of this, but the crowd seemed quite rowdy for Jelly Roll, so what the fuck do I know. Same crowd chant, “We Want Kross,” though. People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. Can’t trust people, Jeremy.

Best thing on the show was Jade and Naomi’s great, stiff brawl. Fingers crossed that results in a fun No Holds Barred match at Evolution. Maybe Jade can go a whole match without freezing, as if someone unplugged her controller.

Yeah but the way current TV works Rollins could be out six months and Punk will only appear twice, one of which promotes Rollins’ comeback.

Chucky Pancamo not missing a chance to get on TV for no reason whatsoever. Nice touch having Doug Dillinger there to knock on the door though.
The Goldberg match was as good as it could’ve been, and credit to him for not just going straight to the Spear, Jackhammer routine. It was slow, plodding at times, but at least there was some effort to do something else. Still hasn’t learnt how to protect his head though, silly Billy Goldberg.

Drew v Randy was OK. I’ve no idea who Jelly Roll is nor do I have any inclination to find out, I’m sure he means something to the area that they were in.

I can’t stand Rollins as much as the next guy, but I’d never wish injury on anyone. Already seen some people brainstorming what to do with the MITB briefcase (some proper horrible fantasy booking stuff) but depending on its severity he could be back by the time he’d kayfabe need to cash it in anyway, so I wouldn’t do anything with the briefcase as of right now. If anything, don’t mention it at all between now and his return. Having him return to cash in? Basic as it gets, but the simplest of things are always the best

I'm guessing the injury is bad. The tell is usually someone like Triple H using their grave voice to say 'it doesn't look good', and he hit exactly that mark in the presser last night.

This could be the making of Bron, though.

There seems to be some wrestlejourns who don't think this injury is real, or that it's covering up another injury (which is likely to be a shorter term one), based on being told before SMNE that this was going to happen. Could be bogus, but I wouldn't get your hopes up yet.

I mean, without repeating myself, I hope he's not injured. I'm happy to continue not watching, it's freed up loads of time to do other stuff.

But, simply theoretically speaking, it would be fascinating to see how they handle Bron in a world where Seth is legitimately seriously injured. I think the only option they'd really have open to them is just hitting the accelerator on his push.

Sorry, yes, I wasn't meaning to imply you were happy Seth was injured. Seth suddenly disappearing from the show is obviously intriguing, for sure. I doubt it leads to the ascension of Bronn Brekker, but I guess we'll see.

I don't know what else you do, though. Add a new leader to that faction? To what end? It feels like they'd have to just push on with Bron/Heyman. I can't imagine they'd ditch it entirely, as that would be a killer for Bron I think.
