Had a big craving lately triggered by childhood memories, simultaneously of the chicken burgers I had from Denny’s virtually ever night when we went to Orlando, and of BirdsEye southern fried chicken that mama raid used to do for me in either fillet or usually nugget form, a staple of my frozen oven food diet for years. Did a couple of trials and… yum. Lidl “Red Hen” southern fried is better than BirdsEye - chunkier like proper filet and less processed texture, plus twice as many in the box for about the same price. * Whacked them on big seeded buns also from Lidl and drowned them in Roleski honey mustard sauce from the Polish shop - amazing. Mrs raid had cheese on hers and insisted on something green, whose name I won’t utter in this thread.

You'll need to add some salt to that. Both disappointed and amazed that one of those is under 30% of the daily recommended amount.

The serving suggestion is that you put it on a board with chips on a dish. That can fuck off as well.

I was not sure what to have with it tbh. If I have a pie normally I have mash and/or green veg. If I have a burger then fries. So I went for the healthy option in Aldi Beef Dripping Chips.

Which are amazing btw and I have had before. Possibly the best frozen chip out there.

The pie was quite good but odd as you would expect. I like that they didn't just chop up a few bits of burger patties and swamp it in cheese sauce and go "heres a cheeseburger pie" like Iceland probably would do. This is two small burgers like a Birdseye size, coated in cheese sauce with a bit of burger relish. 

I do like a fancy burger but I also have nostalgia for those childhood, cheap Birds Eye, burger dinners. And that is what this tastes like. Fun and probably great if your smashed and fancy a burger but don't want the faff of cooking one.

The chips were amazing though. Aldi Skin On Beef Dripping Chips. Highly, highly recommended. 

The pies are £2.45 and the chips £2.29.

I've been ateing the buttermilk chicken thigh burgers and sticky teriyaki chicken thigh bites from Aldi last few weeks. Both of them are dangerously delicious. Have me eye on the chicken pakora tenders too. They've recently put in self checkouts in my local, which makes buying them far too easy. I need the scorn of the checkout person to keep me in check.

Had this monster of a meal yesterday. Sheesh kebab, lamb chops, chicken tikka, crispy wings, king prawns and fish pakora, on a bed of onions. They overloaded on the chcken wings a little too much for me at the expense of the prawns, but that's a small niggle. It was tremendous. Had an Oreo cheesecake afterwards (forgot to get a photo of this) which was also really good.

I cannot move this morning.

I'm prepared for the vilification so here goes. From the base of the sandwich to the top.  Slice of thick white bread, butter, mayo, chips, French's Hamburger Relish, butter, slice of thick white bread. The chips have to be neatly arranged in two layers, one where all the chips are across the width of the sandwich and one along the length of the sandwich to form a lattice so the two sauces can combine between them.

I approve of the bread, butter and spatial chip strategy.  The rest disappointed me.

Only just heard of Blaggis, half black pudding and half haggis deep fried in batter... Anyone tried it?

I love the concept of that, but I'm not sure I've ever seen a foodstuff that looks so like it could kill millions if it got into the water supply.
