There are still some traditional Jewish bakeries that use it - there's a popular one in Finsbury Park that's been running for decades called "The Happening Beigel Bakery". Quote
Paid Members Lorne Malvo Posted March 3 Paid Members Posted March 3 Would like to recommend the new Tim Hortons hot honey menu. Lovely. I've not really had a go-to fast food chain for a while now. It was previously KFC but that's ridiculously expensive now. Burger King is very inconsistent and the burgers fall apart almost immediately, McDonalds is dreadful and I haven't had a good one in about 5 years. And Popeyes/Wendys/etc are fine but none of them have really captured my heart. The past few weekends however I've been to Tim Hortons and love it. I don't think I'd ever been before but was aware it seems to have a bad reputation* but their burgers put McDonalds in the shade, their coffee is half-decent for a fast food place and the donuts are bang-on. I'll concede the breakfast menu looks rank though. *GaryEats did a few videos last year completely slating it, but I always get a slightly sinister weird vibe from him so didn't let that put me off. Hot honey needs to be stopped. I had my first Chopstix the other day. Unfussy and simple, but found it decent value for money. The firecracker chicken is great. Quote
Paid Members Carbomb Posted March 3 Paid Members Posted March 3 Wendy's had a French onion burger a few months ago which was just fucking lush, but it was only a special edition, and it has now ended. Bastards. Quote
Paid Members Thunderplex Posted March 3 Paid Members Posted March 3 I have convinced a girl at work that Hot Honey is from bees who gather pollen from Chilli Plants. Quote

RIDDUM_N_STYLE Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Tim Hortons are great for breakfast imo, any time I get to Manchester early enough to have it (because there isn’t on in Liverpool City Centre for some mad reason) I go for their breakfast deal of any food item for £1 odd with a drink which saves a couple quid on getting the same items from McDonald’s (and their version of the McMuffin is a lot better) Quote
Paid Members Lorne Malvo Posted March 13 Paid Members Posted March 13 I didn't mind GaryEats at first but he's fast become a hate-watch for me. I find the thumbnails alone infuriating. I'm sure he claims that one place or another is the 'worst' food establishment every other week. Plus here he's shamelessly nicked Danny Malins foldaway table gimmick! If I were Rate My Takeaway I'd be seeing him in food influencers court. Quote
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted March 13 Paid Members Posted March 13 I think Subway's a bit dull and expensive these days but it's far from the worst and it clearly does work. Thumbnails are an annoyance of YouTube. The algorithm seems to demand a certain style but it gets on my nerves. An example, I really enjoy Tronics Fix's vids fixing up old consoles and stuff but his thumbnails irritate the life out of me. Quote
Paid Members I Bent My Wookie Posted March 13 Paid Members Posted March 13 Thumbnails are actually my main Jesus Christ thing these days. I've actually had to stop watching a Football Manager YouTube series because the generated AI image of the creators face in that stupid thumbnail state winds me up no end. Quote
Paid Members FLips Posted March 13 Paid Members Posted March 13 We stopped watching Gary Eats ages ago. Around the time he started the Gary Eats Extended Universe with RateMyTakeaway, Greeno and Al’s Kitchen. Al’s Kitchen was the best of the lot of them because he would actually make food and not just go to some dump KFC and then tell you how crap it was. That being said we don’t watch any of them currently. Quote

Ha, same, though I'm not 100% they're AI generated, he pulls fucking stupid faces and there's a horrible sheen on them. Second Yellow Card is the channel, it's very good otherwise. Quote
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted March 13 Paid Members Posted March 13 Football Manager vids were the first time I really noticed the expectations of the thumbnail. They're all the same. Creator, daft face, normally pretending to wear a suit, big club badge or screenshot from FM behind them. All the same. Like there was a Football Manager creators photo day and thumbnail workshop that they all went on. Quote
